Minuscule mistakes that can get you fired?

I saw those folks make completely avoidable multi-millions of dollar mistakes and be forgiven and promoted again. They were routinely assigned as leaders of areas they were completely unqualified for and set the whole team on fire. It was chalked up to "experience". I saw many hard working U-band employees terminated as scapegoats for projects, for mistakes they literally had no control over

I've always feared that I'll get fired for the slightest mistake since I'm not a 'social climber' and don't enjoy high status that would protect me here.

When you sign that very long employment contract, you agree to a bunch of things that HR will look under every nook and cranny to find as a violation, and use it as an excuse to terminate you. If someone doesn't like you and wants you out, they will use this tactic. I've seen it first hand.

trying to be a greater org team player by helping out another cross functional team. later found out that my vp had beef with that org, this is a political conflict i had no idea about. ended up negatively affecting me so the lesson is despite all the team player talk, be careful whose team you play with because there are lots of petty grudges that leaders hold onto that you have no idea about
