So if you work in a store or distribution center, is it true that you don’t need the vax?

But you do if you work at hq or elsewhere?

What’s the logic?

@2rgq, no. These are terminations as a result of policy violations, not layoffs because of restructure, budget cuts, etc.

Any of these terminated employees get severance?

347 employees were terminated.

@1mdp: if what you say is true it will be interesting if wrongful termination lawsuits are filed and records are subpoenaed showing who got exempted and why. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if some of those exemptions were highly subjective or based on lame and indefensible premises.

Alas I doubt those lawsuits will be forthcoming because employers have wide latitude to fire employees for almost any reason or no reason at all. I’d also bet Nike talked to many lawyers and made sure everything appeared legit before the terminations. Hard to fight City Hall.

Anyone know how many employees we’re talking about? 10? 100?

So when does a "pandemic" become endemic? Nice worldview thinking that people who will lose their jobs are selfish or intellectually challenged. You better be 4x or 5x boosted and N95 masked there homeboy, and don't pull too hard on that corporate leash. You'll have your job intact and be able to make your BMW lease payments for your X1- so no worries!

So basically we are saying that the only people left with brains will go on to to much better things than lame Nike

I'll be honest...It brings a smile to my face to know you id--ts are losing your jobs. You are a blight on the country in general, but at least we're going to be better as a company without you.

@1mdp

Are you saying POC are automatically exempt from getting the shot? That’s good news for some but obviously proves that this mandate has nothing to do with public health. It’s an obedience test - Nike doesn’t want independent thinkers, they want mindless zombies that don’t question anything.

Yawn. Per usual, you have grown tiresome.

If you don't like it, go work somewhere else. Why would you even want to stay at Nike if you disagree so vehemently?

Just. Go.

know with 100% certainty, have multiples screenshots of her texts, that the head of hr makes exceptions baseds on federally protected classes, if you look like her or act like her, you’re good for any exception you ask for

If you work at Nike and look a certain way…one word: Tuskegee. No vax req for you - not even a question.

@qfo: Tell us more about these “constitutional rights” you incorrectly think you have. While you’re at it, explain how your employer DOESN’T have a “constitutional right” to set conditions on your employment, and to fire your ignorant azz when you don’t meet those conditions.

Oh, I forgot. Freedom Loving Patriots(tm) like you don’t understand that rights are a two-way street. Your always concerned about your own rights to the point where you conveniently forget that other people and corporations have rights too.

I’m glad Nike is firing those soon-to-be-former employees who played with fire and are now surprised they got burnt. Being a dipsh*t should always come with consequences. Now several rubes are going to have to explain to their families why they no longer have a job. Just as bad they’re going to have to explain to any prospective employers why they were terminated from Nike. And rest assured when those employers verify your employment history they’ll be told you were terminated. You won’t be able to hide it. That means only the most desperate, bottom of the barrel employers will risk hiring you.

But look on the bright side. You really showed ‘em because nobody is going to tell YOU what to do! Lolz.

@1fea and others crying “censorship!!!”:

In case you haven’t noticed, this website is not owned by the government. It is owned by a private corporation. Therefore they can “censor” you all they want. And in the process they won’t be violating any of the mythical rights you mistakenly believe you have.

If someone walks into your house and starts saying things you don’t like, do you have a right to tell them to shut up or leave? Of course you do. Because it’s your house! Well guess what? That same principle applies here. Who’d a thunk it???

I’ve always found it amusing that the dolts who cry about their “rights” and “the Constitution” the most, ironically have the poorest understanding of how both actually work. Oh well. At least no one said their non-existent “free speech” rights on this website were being violated. I suppose that’s progress. Of sorts.

Posts that break the site's rules have always been deleted. That's nothing new. I'm guessing the "no politics" one cleaned this thread out.

I doubted posts were being deleted but it is true. Anything having to do with the ruling by the Supreme Court today has been removed. There were multiple. Hmmmm

And apparently any comments that don’t go along with the pro-vaccine narrative will be deleted.

This discussion is being censored so it doesn’t represent what people think about being fired for being unvaccinated.

there are people who are not vaxxed and will still be allowed to work. nike always has double even triple standards. if you are a vp or well connected you will be fine, especially if you claim religious exemption or if your skin is of a specific shade.

Why do y’all even care with these smug comments? You’re really desperate to huddle back into rooms and have inefficient meetings? Missing the chicken teriyaki specials? You can still get sick. You can still carry the virus. But hey, maybe we’ll be blessed again with a kegger on a soccer field.
Nike is falling behind on the new direction of work lifestyle. The people leaving for WFH opportunities are proving it. But I guess there’s enough suckers here that be distracted by their peers getting fired.

If you think the vaccines are working pay attention to what’s going on with the schools right now. We will be back to hybrid/at home learning pretty soon.

Now you are both unvaccinated and jobless! Good luck getting a new job knowing the reason for which you got fired! How d-mb must you now feel.

"...Nike has informed some employees that they will be fired later this week for failing to comply with the company’s December 1, 2021 deadline for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. While legal obstacles have halted mandatory government-issued mandates, companies like Nike can still move forward with mandatory policies for employees. In an email obtained by OregonLive, a small group of Nike’s 14,000 Beaverton, OR employees received the following message last week:

'You failed to complete the verification process and our records show that you do not have an approved (exemption). As a result, you are not in compliance with the Policy and your employment is scheduled to be terminated on Saturday, January 15, 2022.' "
