Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

“Management by Ridicule”

LE’s management philosophy: “You’ve got to be good at intellectual intimidation and rhetorical bullying.”

  • Softwar: An intimate Portrait of Larry Ellison and Oracle by Matthew Symonds.

Apparently, LE later disavowed this strategy as “inexperienced and insecure”. But we all know: not really. Intimidation and bullying are at the core of orcl. That leopard will never change its spots.

Not all vain self important narcissistic sociopaths are airheads. Some are truly to be feared, others are just sort of clueless wanderers. It depends.

Good point, some are highly intelligent, in fact, many are. They are the most dangerous ones.

At this point LE has dug himself a $73 billion ho-e... or at least the company is now sitting in a $73 billion ho-e. Maybe that doesn't affect LE's finances directly? Maybe he doesn't care? Not sure.

LE is obviously a complete and total airhead. This cr-p about conflict is garbage.

Everything you posted is 100% spot on except for one thing. LE is NOT an airhead. He is a vain self important narcissistic sociopath, ruthless to the extreme. DO NOT underestimate him.

In capitalism, employees are the slaves and at Oracle it’s no different; LE says to the employees “if you don’t like it, go work somewhere else “

LE owns 40% of the company and owns the board: he doesn’t care if employees aren’t happy; all he cares about is satisfyIng the shareholders at any price

LE is obviously a complete and total airhead. This cr-p about conflict is garbage.

Good people stay where they are treated the best. It's that simple LE. If you want a company full of as-----s, liars and cheats, then definitely intimidation and threats are the way to go.

And this garbage about setting people against one another is the defense mechanism of the narcissistic sociopaths of the world. This is also known as a really, really bad parenting pattern. Get all the kids to compete against each other for your attention. Truly sick.

Step 1: Make sure everyone beneath you hates each other. When someone tells you something about someone else in confidence, make sure you pass that on to the other person. Put people down in public, others will join in and you can then tell who naturally dislikes each other and exacerbate that. Etc, etc.

Step 2: The people below you will start ratting on each other. They will refuse to work together to solve anything. They will try to please you and only you. To the narcissistic sociopath this looks great on the surface. But, the reality is you have now reduced your group to individuals who will not help each other in any way. Instead of the combined work of 10 individuals helping and working with each other, you now have only the work of each individual, and instead of doing the right thing, they are now focused on getting short-term attention based solely on making other individuals in the group look bad. Sc--w everything else.

Step 3: While the narcissistic sociopath in charge feels emotionally safe, the entire company fails. Not only will the employees in the group not work together, they will not work with any outside group. Situations where groups need to work together to write different portions of code, simply will not. They instead work to sabotage each other in constant conflict for the short term attention of whichever narcissist they are trying to impress.

No, LE, DUH, DUH, DUH. Obviously, intimidation and conflict within the company DON'T WORK!

DUH, DUH, DUH!

You and your stupidity have completely destroyed your company, LE. You are solely responsible for that, as the people under you just copy everything you do, thinking that's the way it's done.

I would bet anything that LE had very, very little to do with the original success of the company. The original developers, for sure, knew enough to ignore id--t LE and get the real work done.... TOGETHER!

DUH!

LE likes conflict and thinks it makes for better employees and products. That is why there were two IT departments, two CEOs, two of almost everything. Create that conflict he loves so much. Maybe he does disavow it, but that isn't going to stop anything now. The box was opened, the demons escaped and they aren't going back in anytime soon. IT's engrained in the fabric of the culture. Besides being horribly wasteful of resource, it just created unnecessary stress for people, and makes them terribly defensive. Which hurts productivity. And creates more waste.
