Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

401k match timing

Glad I didn’t sell that and rotate into Q’s as planned. Not that I’m a fan of the annual match but it certainly worked out for us that didn’t sell it l. WFC stock Up 15% in just a few days. Will it keep going ?

You got lucky. Congrats on your good fortune!

Now take a moment to think about where WFC is at in relation to the past dozen years or so, remembering that it no longer has the golden reputation that it once enjoyed.

Wells isn't an Apple or a Tesla. We're not even a GME or an AMC.

I'm highly confident that WFC has more downside than upside at this point, and I put my money where my mouth is: I sold all my WFC just over 50.

@yrs+1eGF5fK5 With Lizard Warren and her ego on the loose, you can bet there will be some blame on WF again soon, scandal or not.

I don’t sh!t where I eat so no way am I holding WFC options if they are my pay check provider also. As soon as I get them I sell em as fast as I can. No reason to hold a few to tens of thousands of dollars of WFC if you can roll it into holdings of hundreds of thousands of something else.

I used to transfer the match every quarter and now I'll do it every year. Over time, it was the best move. It wasn't so much the WFC stock but was just being in one single stock. That's not what my 401k is for and this isn't a 30% growth company. I'll buy individual stocks in my brokerage accounts if needed.

Better sell before the next scandal hits. Not saying one is in the pipeline, but there probably is.

What did you move it into? Cause odds are the fund you moved into has WFC holdings or companies that are even worse.

I actually transferred it all out in my 401k today. I had over $100K in WF stock from the matches over the years and moved to SP500 and Nasdaq100 funds. I was just waiting for it to get up into the mid $50s or $60s before I transferred out. I've been accumulating it for the last few years, watching it drop into the $20s, and was waiting to recover most of its value.

It will be a bummer if it does keep shooting up into the $60s and beyond, so I'll miss out on some growth, but now I'm fully out of WF in my 401k and hope to be employed elsewhere in February after bonus hits. Will make it a little easier to transfer 401k over to the new employer without worrying about WF prices.

I'll keep my vested shares in WF stock for a little longer, waiting to get my restricted shares in February and then I'll sell all of it if they are still in the $50s and $60s.

I'm just not confident that WF stock will stay this high much longer. Just when we thought we were out of the woods and the stock was gaining, something would happen and it would just sink down into the $40s or even $30s again. I'm taking the healthy gains and running!

Correct
A lot of the tech money rotated into Financials
But...
There will be a day when it goes back into Tech
Hope you catch that wave

It's actually normal to find humblebragging about stock prices in poor taste on a message board focused on that company laying people off

This board is filled with disgruntled pikers that don’t like seeing negativity.

Why are there thumbs down for this persons post?

Seems like if anything even sniffs of positivity on this board is immediately shot down or spun to a negative way. Cheer up guys.

I agree with the original poster and hope the stock keeps going up.

We'll see how things shake out next Friday after earnings but yeah, all the banks are doing well this week.
