Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

New hire training…after Oracle.

I spent 10+ years at oracle. I had zero formal training besides those God awful compliance cartoons. I’m at a new company now. On my 2nd and 3rd days of my first week of my company I had more formal training (real in job training) than I did in 10+ years at oracle. Two days!!!!!!!

Oracle. I’m sorry but you are the biggest loser.

well, my manager has always been very supportive on training, even approved me to apply a master degree course - however i wasn't able to take it for personal reason. but yes, the pay rise and bonus is limited to zero

OP here. In the CEGBU you aren’t getting anything approved for training or for tuition reimbursement. Those d-mb clowns hate people growing and god forbid they learn about clouds like AWS or Azure that are actually providing 99% availability. That GBU is a dumpster fire. They’ve lost a ton of people and the ones who stay are there cause no one else will hire them. That’s what happens when your skill set stayed the same since 2007. Hahahahahaha. RIP CEGBU

My manager asked me for justification when I asked for training, he said “Tell me what you can learn from training that you cannot learn it from books?”

Strongly Disagree. I had never an issue to get my workshops approved by my manager… I’m fact, my Manager is actually pushing me to take them.

Every org and manager is different. Mine was like yours. Very generous and encouraging for us to get all the training we wanted. Some BUs were not so encouraging and, in fact have no training budget. You were lucky, so was I. Others aren't so fortunate.

Forced certification on employees own time is hardly corporate training.

No training needed.... LE is just letting the business just "melt away". No one cares, including LE.

Oci got some decent training stuff and is making a serious effort to make it better.

At oracle I paid out of pocket for training that actually helped me get the job an 25% raise I have at my new company.

Companies in the know understand that training at every level -onboarding, new product, etc- is vital to creating and retaining an efficient workforce.

Then there’s Oracle.
