Either we all are having an opposite experience to the majority of employees or HR has been working really hard to push up those numbers, but Nike is once again among the top 50 best places to work for on Glassdoor. How it still ranks that high is beyond me, but it's there. That's why we keep getting so many applications. Potential employees are getting a distorted image of the company.

Nike has many employees. Most of them do not work at WHQ. Having spent a good few years there (until I was no more in FA20) I was obviously aware of the daily political shitshow. I had first hand experience of the many goons in leadership.
For the folk removed from that, I think Nike must still feel like one of the best places to work. Legendary brand, decent benefits, discounted product!
Possibly an explanation..
Nike does seem to show a tendency toward age-based discrimination. While it may not legally actionable because they take pains to include enough younger folks in each list of victims, they do tend to lay off their most tenured folks disproportionately. It is sad seeing loyal folks with 10 to 20 years with the company being shown the door. Nike is not a place for a career; at most it is just a stop along the way to better places.
@3fsz, seriously? People have to move on once they get to be in their 50s or 60s so younger people can find their place? Are you at all familiar with age-based discrimination? Choose your words more carefully and more respectfully next time.
Elliot was one of the great ones for sure. But let’s not equate his leaving with dysfunction or morale. He was with the company for 30 years and reached the top. His departure was the natural evolution of a top leader and a global organization. Latter 50’s and with other interests to explore. He left at the top of his game while realizing it was time for new leaders to step up. His departure actually opened the door for others. You would be complaining if leaders stayed through their 60’s and thus kept others from having the opportunity to step up.
When a highly respected, universally liked Nike lifer like EH left a couple years ago that’s when I knew “things are changing around here.” EH was the epitome of Nike’s GOOD old-school leaders. That he felt like it was time to leave after some 30 years at Nike was, to me, a pretty powerful statement. Since then I’ve seen a number of other employees voluntarily leave. It’s almost always the high performers too. My Sr. Dir. is one of the good ones and rumors are swirling that she’s got one foot out the door with the other foot not far behind.
What a joke! Everyone with a brain is leaving. The great resignation is happening and right fully so!
If people believe everything they read on the internet, they deserve to be hood winked and take a job at Nike.
You must be joking! Unless you worked there, you won't know.
Until you work at Nike. It’s a disorganized mess under JD
