New hires

Given the skills and abilities of new hires, there are two possible explanations:

  • either it's never been easier to get a job here,
  • or very few talented job applicants apply here?

I have no other explanation for the poor quality of the new hires.

What I've seen in parts of the company that I'm in, hiring is not based on merit, but rather based on which diverse group you belong to. They are then trained for 1-2 years and placed somewhere in the company.
At the end of the day, the candidate is never as good as the person who might have come via a merit based system.

Before all this started, We used to get really amazing, top notch interns, who were so good that they made us question if we even need experienced folks.

But the problem is dont pay them enough, so in few years they leave. Only the occassional top performer who found a manager that comped them appropriately stayed.

I mean it’s common knowledge that the work are stressful here, or else why so many people leaving, creating constant openings all the time ? Many men working here are all starting to go bald due to stress and pressure so I am pretty sure new hires would want to take it easy and keep their hair ?
