Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I wish this company.....

Perhaps someone still has a desire for some positive changes to happen here, but I have given up hope and now my biggest wish is to be laid off, get severance pay and finally take a break from everything I have experienced here over the last two years.

Honz is trying to breach the contract, he will learn like macdaddy did when he came out on the lines while we were on strike, that was a funny moment, which backfired and he ended up leaving not long after. Honz is next to find out what happens when you try to breach an existing contact.. wait til jan4 and see what happens unless the mandates are ended.

Co equipment over 30 years old deteriorating, cables falling apart or hanging down in the field, more and more ckts being left oos. All this while cable companies running fiber all over to provide upgraded service. Does it look like Verizon really give a sheet about the local copper customer anymore? Your a kite dancing in a hurricane Mr Bond.

We said OP.
Let’s be real here.
Verizon has been a Toxic work environment ever since Hanz took over.
All he cares about is Outsourcing, Offshoring, VSP, RIF aka Layoffs in order to remove the most tenured, talented higher paid employees, in order to pay for 5ghee. This was an Employee first, People first company, but not anymore

Verizon is now the toxic, cesspool of a typical corporation who only cares about $$$ & share holders.

Quit being a drag and just quit if you are miserable. The job market is on fire now. Nothing says they have to give you a package. If you keep dragging it along, you may get to the point where it isn't financially feasible to give you a package and you are out of work in a cr---y job market, having wasted all that time waiting. The packages have already been stripped down to a fraction of what they used to be. With your luck, when they get around to you all you may end up with is a week and unused vacation.

You are right on the money OP! The last two years at the company has been toxic and the managerial changes are what resulted in the stock dropping 18%.

Worst choice I ever made was staying with the company during the height of the pandemic and not taking either the wfh or severance. I never thought in a million years that it would become the circus it is now.

Laid off? Don't be weak. Grow a pair and quit. Take control of your life and stop being a victim. You sound like a unioner.

You can always take up a hobby. Look at me... I got my start with a bag of Gummi bears, a rainbow wig, and a red nose. Suddenly, Uncle Ted wasn't worried about work anymore.
In fact, I'm looking foreward a great RIFmas!

I always tell people, if you are not happy, find a job where you would be. If that means quitting, then so be it. You only have 2 years in, which isn't much. Free yourself and move on. I am happy in my role so I don't share your sentiment. Best of luck!
