Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Why buy it when you can just take it?

People are getting bolder with their thefts. The looters who smash and grab at night must think non-violent shoplifting is their day job. When is this company going to get serious about shrink? Other retailers are starting to clamp down on the theft. It’s like the Wild West in our store.

So it’s the company belief that most theft is internal. That’s a fact. My experience with LP is that they definitely seemed to be more concerned with employee theft.
Customer theft is not a priority. The camera and recording systems are a joke. Don’t risk life or limb over a coffee maker.

I was going to keep my mouth shut about this but I can’t. “These groups” represent people that have been treated poorly and are now standing up for themselves and demanding recognition and their basic human rights. They have NOTHING to do with theft in stores. To say that they do is so ignorant. They are just people like everyone else but they are trying to be heard. The theft that’s happening is from jerks and criminals. So stop saying that these legitimate and very oppressed people are thieves. You should be ashamed for even bringing that kind of talk here.

You say, What does BLM and LBQT have to do with shoplifting?
Everything. These "groups" think they're entitled to help themselves to whatever they want because they've been treated so poorly.

Not too mention the destruction of merchandise by Opening the package and throwing the contents around so it then also becomes a form of shrink

our exit sensor hasn’t worked in over two years, the two cameras we have for the doors that record grainy DVD footage annoy the local police more then help, and it’s usually a cashier, keyholder and maybe part timer in the entire store for any given shift

i can’t even imagine how much is stolen from us on a daily basis, and that’s assuming the cashiers are doing their jobs well

I agree, BBBY is morally bankrupt which preceeds financial bankruptcy. Tearing a page out of history, the same thing happened with the Roman Empire. You would think a History majored CEO would not allow to repeat history? D-mb

BBBY's NEW cultural changes such as embracing WOKENESS, BLM, LBGTQ+the rest of the alphabet, and finally defund the COPs has clearly signaled to the thugs that BBBY has no moral fiber and anything goes, thus it has emboldened the stealing.

BBBY and all the Corporations that have adopted these cultural changes are now paying the price. Now go and live in the sewer you all have created.

Although it is prevalent these days, several years ago our store had a smash and grab of all the open stock knives. About $20,000 total in knives. Took police two hours to respond and when they did arrive they didn’t seem very concerned or like they were taking it seriously.

I think you need to look up Smash and Grab..it js not simple shoplifting and it's done in high end stores. The same people do not shoplift during the day. SMH

I don't believe they will do anything to address the issue. We have a pile of pilferage a day. It is to be expected when we are not given sufficient hour budgets to get all of the various tasks done plus try to watch out on the floor.

What would they smash and grab at BBB? Even if they take boxes of blenders and toaster ovens, it takes time to fit them into a getaway car and that's assuming lugging them to the car is done quickly. Unless they want to grab the smaller made in China products that don't break or fall apart during smash and grab.
