Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Many people think that this is not an innovative company

I would agree only somewhat.
Creativity and people with good ideas used to be much more appreciated here. The energy used to be better. However, even now I wouldn't say that it is not an innovative company. That's why it surprises me when some say that innovation is long gone at Nike !?

I'm more concerned about quality over innovation. My fear is that with this type of leadership the bean counters will soon take over and finding way to cut costs, while still charging $$$, will become the priority.

Its not innovative. They take innovation from other brands, license it and rebrand it as its own. Zote foam. Kizik's handsfree tech. When a company lives off of its retros and nostalgia you know inno is dead. And this is not the fault of the front line innovation teams. They come up with good ideas but get rejected because leadership wants instant gratification instead of taking years to r&d something in-house. And management are always vying for favor with VPs and above so if they try to develop something they get overlooked by someone else who appropriated an existing design. Its a toxic cycle with leadership at the core
