The broader your network the more likely you'll get contacted by recruiters. When people want to start looking outside their company for a new job, one thing they do is update their linkedin profile (update the experience or accomplishments) and make new connections hoping it will make them seem more attractive to another company's recruiters (if they're well connected).

Delete your profile. Someone is trying to get you in trouble or lose your job.

You think that’s creepy? Check out “mylife.com”. I signed up to own the profile they have on me and I get emails when people search for me. I don’t have social media because it’s too easy for stalkers to stalk. LinkedIn is the same as Facebook imho.

I get a lot of that too but it could just be head hunters looking for contractors/employees to fill some opening and your profile just happen to match their criteria. I stopped updating my LinkedIn a long time ago because of this. Too many emails. If I need to apply for a new job, I will just email my updated resume. LinkedIn shares your info.
