Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Countdown to RTO: One more month

I keep on thinking about this and of course the anxiousness that comes with it. Definitely putting the dumps over my holidays. I don't feel like coming back to the office anymore.

At least tech isn’t affected, unless you are level 4 and up manager :)

@1ikt+1e2OV6In - They gather it, but is anyone at Wells competent enough to understand and analyze it? Doubtful.

I love being back in the office but only because no one is there right now and it's like me and maybe 1 or 2 others tops on any given day. once everyone comes back next month it will be a different story.

"I hope to have a casual encounter in the can"

Storage closets are much better for this.

I see on LinkedIn periodically some employees posting pics from in the office saying how great it is to be back. Hahahahha. What kiss azz they are trying to mimic Shart and their OC that do the photo ops on teamworks.

Hey kiss azzs’ I hope to have a casual encounter in the can while we’re in stalls next to each other dropping death with tu-d splashes and echoing toilet emissions

Btw there used to be a policy prohibiting photos from inside wf facilities. What happened to that?!

So if productivity tanks while in the office and is great when not in the office, they'll be aware? Faaaantastic. I think we all know what we need to do.

It's definitely true, know for a fact. I'm not divulging which groups have the exception but I know one with absolute certainty. My guess is, this is one of those things that requires OC level approval, but the fact that it's even possible for a group to get an exception is being kept very hush hush, for obvious reasons.

The travel policy is ridiculous. You can take 3752367 flights per year on your own time, but can't take 2-3 per year for work. Asinine. Just have the traveller sign a waiver saying they don't hold the company liable for any diseases you might catch while traveling and be done with it. The only reason the policy exists is because of fears of liability. It's easily solved. Literally a check box on concur and it's done.

Someone has placed a lot of faith in the accuracy of the software metrics WF is tracking.

As someone who worked on remediation based on reporting from those metrics, you have a lot more faith in their accuracy than I do.

Badge swipes, e911 reports, check-ins from many software programs we use, as well as your away/presence status in apps, combined with tracking that some of those apps do. Many employees do not know the depth of tracking that happens on their work devices or while connected to work networks. It's massive, and detailed.
These tools are already on your machine. They are already monitoring and have been gathering data for a while now. Even when not connected to Pulse, they still gather data.

as with most things WF, they come up with an Enterprise level policy then end up leaving it to the individual LOBs to implement however they see fit if at all. If you want everyone back in the office then make it happen and enforce it from day one using a combination of badge swipes and ip lookups. if you aren't going to enforce it then just let everyone do whatever they are going to do.

If what you say is true re the travel policy and vaccines - that is disappointing and inconsistent. Are people in certain departments less contagious than others? If you can give more info - I will make them miserable with questions about that. I’ll ask the question and challenge it via email and see how they are willing to explain it in writing.

haha, as if. "Technology" is short for "good for me, not for thee". Those "current skills types" don't think any rules should apply to them, and they've done enough Kingdom building that they can usually pull it off. Add in serious competition from other potential employers and WF will bend the knee. The rest of us pleebs will have to follow the rules.

There's already huge exceptions for the travel policy requiring vax. Whole departments are exempt, but if you ask for the same treatment it's "oh no, we can't do that...", but they are doing that. Clearly some of us are more equal than others.

I know several people who do that, and randomly talk to themselves to make it sound like they are busy. I know several others who find ways to hide out in conference rooms and sleep or who spend a lot of time up on one of the observation floors with their 'work GF' all while badged in through the doors - so it looks like they are onsite but they are doing zero work.

We used to have a guy who sat at his desk with the phone at his ear and no one on the other end haha. You could spend another hour doing that and you’ll be down to 3.5 hours. Good luck everyone!

Tech was told by SVB they only have to go in for specific meetings if they’re not on an Agile team. They will not have to go in a certain number of days per week (unless they want to). Hoping the rest of the company is offered the same.

My RTO anticipated routine shall include an hour of disinfecting my temporary space in the morning and (because I am a superstar team player) an hour of disinfecting at the end of the day for tomorrow’s occupant. That reduces my work day to six hours. I am setting aside one hour for water cooler collaboration. Now down to five hours. Two 15 minute coffee breaks takes me down to 4.5 hours. Maybe I’ll take up smoking - that’s got to be good for two more 15 minute breaks. Voila, down to four hours of work. You’re welcome.

Welcome to the new reality. This is what it is now and even though I'm sympathetic to the fact that you don't feel like playing along (I don't like it much either) this is what it is and we're all in the same boat. You should probably consider changing jobs to a full time remote position.

RTO I just do not feel safe sharing a common workspace with multiple people who may have Covid, a cold, or some other contagious disease. Two hour round trip commute and now time must be spent in an attempt to clean off the contaminants on the common workspace prior to starting to work productively. If we had our own personal desks again it would be much better. Also will not really want to get too close to anyone at work knowing we can contract Covid from both vaccinated and unvaccinated co-workers. Wearing a mask all day and trying to focus on work will be more difficult I think than the free breathing at home to work.

It's a stupid idea, but I'm not stressing over it. If the company wants me to work less, be less accessible, and burn more fossil fuels, "ok". They pay me pretty well, and at this point I'm over it. I'll go in, work a bit, tolerate the poor tech/furniture, socially distance, and go home. If production is down I'll just blame water cooler conversations with random people.

I'm not sure how this nonsense is going to be enforced, but I have a feeling that after a few months it will turn into a joke. If not, well, I guess I'll strategically time my PTO to reduce the # of days I go in as much as possible. It is what it is.

I’m not looking forward to it either. My immediate manager is not a bad person but his boss is a bloviating blowhard who needs and demands constant attention and sycophancy. My manager is afraid of him and just repeats whatever he says over and over. It’s been nice to not have to listen to the blowhard boasting about his brilliant career ALL day. But oh well. We’re lucky the good times lasted this long.

If you were in office pre-COVID, you are better off now with the hybrid model.

If you were full time WFH pre-COVID, you are worse off.

They never said there was a chance to be permanent. We were always told we’d be going back. If you don’t like it, find a new job.

And don't you only need to go in 2 days a week? Sure beats five days a week which is what it was.

I agree! And I don’t think the leaders see the inconsistencies in their RTO plans and wanting us to contribute lots of great improvement ideas thru Loudspeaker. Do you care what we think is best or not? Frankly I don’t understand why people bother with submitting ideas to Loudspeaker.
