I apologize that the topic is not about layoffs - A person who intends to apply for a job here and who has a very bad experience in the past in another company, asked me if it ever happens that Nike gives offer and then rescinds it (after the person has already given notice in the company he works for)?
I really haven’t heard of Nike ever rescinding an offer but anything is possible. Have you ever heard of such a case?

What could possibly get an offer rescinded if you can get a job despite a mu---r conviction?
Never ever resign unless you’ve gotten the ok from the new company.
If it's not something that would appear in a background check your friend should be fine. If Nike contacts their former employer they can only divulge so much - i.e. like verifying that your friend worked there during the dates on their resume. Just tell your friend to wait until day 1 at Nike to start blabbing on social media.
I’ve never heard of it happening at Nike anything is possible. Typically job offers are only rescinded if adverse information is discovered about the new hire between the job offer date and start date. That might include bad references or failing a background check or dr-g screen, although few Nike jobs require those last two items. And usually those things are handled before an offer is made anyway. Another thing that can happen is someone finds out the new hire lied on their resume. You might be surprised how many people claim they have degrees or other credentials they don’t actually possess. That will certainly get an offer rescinded if discovered.
