Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

The Last Parachute

To my friends who are still working within Fiserv's employ - I left the company just a few months after the merger and the big orange soda champagne party in the Alpharetta cafeteria. I'd worked for the company for a decade, and as a nearly-fifty person, I spent the first 9 of those ten years CERTAIN that Fiserv would be the company from which I retired one day. Every fiber of my being "felt" like I was making a decision I would wind up regretting.

Now, reading here and hearing from several close friends who still work there how wretched things have become, I feel like I jumped out of a doomed plane and took the last parachute. Here's what's true for me today, for any of you who feel hopeless:

Within the last three years, my yearly compensation has increased by 80% (yes, nearly doubled).

I've moved upward two notches from the title in which I worked for a decade at Fiserv.

I work for a company which has had a 70% FULLY REMOTE workforce since well before COVID. What matters is that we do our jobs well;nobody cares WHERE we do those jobs.

I take PTO when I need it;there's no bank that decreases when I take a vacation. What matters is, once more, that we do our jobs well.

So far, I've been able to lure a few exceptional former Fiserv folks to come work with me again. We are all damaged goods when we first get out, but getting out is SO well-worth it!

So.... trying to figure out how to connect with the two folks who have asked where I work/said we need to talk without disclosing my identity on here. Any ideas/suggestions welcome.

There's an HR "partner" on here downvoting posts like this, it seems.

To the person who replied, I agree 200 percent - it's the people. That's what made me set about beginning to hire them away as soon as I was able. I couldn't stand not working with "my" team!

I'd like to think that my teammates feel the same way about their manager as you do, but I won't be so narcissistic as to say that they do. I do know that a great boss can make any rotten job better, and a poor manager can make any dream job a nightmare.

The best boss I've ever had in my life was (and still is) at Fiserv, though I'd imagine that he gets closer and closer to being pushed out with every new edict from Frank.

Thank you for this. I was speaking with a coworker today about how I love what I do and ultimately I know I can take my experience anywhere I go. I’m not worried about finding another job, there’s a lot out there. It’s the people that I’ll miss the most. Not the CEO, or the people in NJ that to them , I am just another number on their books. It’s my team, the people I work with day in and day out. My manager, whom I absolutely adore. That’s the hard part. Alas, I am a believer that everything happens for a reason. I’ve been through tough times at this company before and I’ve come out better on the other side. Someone mentioned in another post on here, don’t get emotionally tied to this. At the end of the day, you can make your career what you want and I 100% agree. Cheers to whatever comes our way, we will all be ok.
