If I a company feels compelled to make you move across the country FOR THEM, do you think you matter to them after you move. Please don’t make bad personal choices for these con men. You’re better than that

So instead, you believe, that everyone should be bullied into uprooting and signing paperwork that binds you to the company for 2 years?
My guess is: you know you aren't ready for interviews and you don't want to get ready for them so instead, you'll do whatever you have to do to keep your job. Sucks to suck
The company wants to know how many people are despriate to keep their job, and if you move. It means you will be their whipping boy or girl. They will abuse the cr-p out of you, because they know they have you for 2 years.
Don't be d-mb about it, take the money and run. If you have a 180K a year job. You are a director or VP. You should be able to find a new job at a better company with ease.
Amazing what lengths a small vocal minority go to as they try to bully you into there bad advice,,,’yea just quit a 175,000 a year job’ , your family won’t care, their college tuition isn’t important, just stick it to Frank —- who you’ve never met, and honestly you and your family can then ask those who post here to pay your bills when you can’t find a job.
No one that cares about people forces them to move across the country to save their job. They aren’t just bad managers, they are bad people.
This entire WFW, the great return, whatever they want to call it is nothing but a RIF but only the people who decide not to move or get the shot are the ones riffing themselves. That's their plan, they don't want bad press by laying off the WFH folks not willing to move for this piece of sh-t company. I sat on the benefits call yesterday, what a joke. They make it sound like they are pro employee the entire time, most admired company 8 years in a row, blah blah fu----g blah. We are now giving managers unlimited R&R, big F'ing deal, nobody can use it anyway with the workload of most depts. Frank and HR F-Off and Kiss my A$$.
100%. Relocations are for big time executive roles where the family is excited to move for a great opportunity. A massive staff level relocation, that’s a RIF and nothing else. They are counting on massive declines and laughing at those that say yes. Have some pride and decline
If they had an ounce of thought or interest in their employees being asked to move they would have made a relocation packet with information like.....cist of living; tax tates; real estate averages; crime stats; school district stats....
Honestly any admin could pull it together. Without even that effort my family isn't budging.
@OP+1dqaQbai - I'm digging this sentiment 100%. I was taking a lovely bike ride this afternoon and thinking to my smart self, hmmm...now if I relocate to the requested location, the primary benefit goes to the company because I said okay fine, I'll move. Check. And Frank can account for another warm bu-t in a cold cubicle. Check. He's getting a rebate or a tax break. Check.
Meanwhile, I'm still figuring out AND questioning X, X, X, X, X, X, and X. I'm likely not alone in stating that as of yet, I don't have clear, concise, AND definitive info from management relative to all my options if I refuse to comply with the 'great return' strategy. This whole proposal is a giant, stinky stinker for me, for a lot of us.
Relocation is ideal for some and I don't care to question anybody's motives. If you believe this company is a cultural fit and provides a promising career trajectory (be careful, ha!), then go for it. For others who feel like an orange in a juice press, let me remind you that free will is an under-utilized superpower!
Nobody cares more about your personal and professional well-being than you do. Nobody.
