Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

December 9 will be my, our last day unless hundreds do not submit

I am a multi-decade employee who was stunned to find out that my employment, and any person who does not want to submit their vax card to an unknown HR personnel, with a company I have loved and served well will end without severance. One boat, one team... sure.
I just got off the phone with another employee who was in tears because this person cannot afford to lose this job and feels in their words "violated" to do something they do not want to do because of their own moral or ethical reasons. Even as a remote employee who does not go in any Xerox facility, it does not matter, no mercy. My heart broke for that person. I can think about retiring, this person cannot.

The only way this does not happen is if hundreds of employees do not submit anything to this system. They cannot afford to lose hundreds when we can't even staff current openings.

All because of an executive order that has not even been put into law yet (and may never).

I think the mandate only applies to healthcare workers and federal employees. I thought corporations over 100 employees either need to be vaccinated or test weekly?

You should be able to test weekly but I didn't see anything from HR regarding testing. Just the mandate policy followed by a 2nd email restating it with clearer wording. I wonder how many exemptions they have to process? Wonder the positions of those individuals . It could cha

We've all taken security training and know that a malicious insider is the most severe threat. Xerox now has hundreds or maybe thousands of them.

That's some nice data you have there. It would be a shame if something happened to it.

LOL, sure, use the Covid “treatment protocol” cited in a paper that was last updated February 1, 2021. Because there couldn’t possibly have been any new knowledge gained in the last 8 months on the best way to treat this viral infection. 😂😂😂😂😂

To the functioning re--rds who keep downvoting/deleting my posts, page 19 of the attached document discusses a treatment protocol for Covid 19. Please don't delete this one because it could actually save someone's life. What's not included in this document, is putting people on Remdesiver and a ventilator. If someone at a hospital is proposing that as a treatment or says stay at until their health worsens, you need to start advocating for the patient.

It's remarkable to me how the anti-vax people (yep, it seems to be only them) cast this as a democrat vs republican thing. It's almost as if they didn't understand this a global pandemic, and that this distinction is completely irrelevant to 95+% of the people in the world. And that the vast majorities of those peoples' governments are fighting the pandemic through vaccines also.

If you think this has anything to do with democrat, republican, biden, trump, or anything else related to US politics, you've let your ideology overwhelm both your judgement and any critical thinking skills you might possess.

Dear vaccinated,

The unvaccinated didn't take your freedom. The government and Xerox did.
The unvaccinated are not holding your freedoms at ransom. The government and Xerox is.
If the unvaccinated are a danger to you, then the vaccine doesn't work.
If it does work, then you should already be free.
The government, and Xerox, have both lied to you.

As someone said, it's decision time. If you're planning to keep your job at Xerox, and you're not yet vaccinated, just be aware of the actual deadline for getting your first injection. It depends on the vaccine that is available to you and which you choose (if you have options).

Moderna: October 27
Pfizer: November 3
J&J: November 24

If you're like the OP, and have decided this is your personal line in the sand, be aware that your choice to leave Xerox will have been made when the above dates pass. Might some last-minute challenge affect the implementation of this policy? It's possible, but do you want to bet your job on it?

Re: "Covered contractor workplace"

Your original post claimed the “MEMO” said only “employees that are present at a Federal workplace” were impacted. This is blatantly untrue, based on what the “MEMO” said. Will you acknowledge that what you said was wrong, or will you just rely on moving the goalposts?

What is wrong? Experts like You that think it’s their way or the highway. Everyone has a right to what they put in their body. And we all have a right to defend that. It’s not about conformity it’s about control and loosing your rights to do anything. They want you to be a mindless drone that never questions anything. Not me, no way. Put another cdc article on here so you feel better about yourself.

What is wrong with you people??? This is NOT A XEROX DECISION. They cannot and will not lose their largest customer. Neither will any other company who has a GSA! And oh by the way- how do you think Covid will ever end unless people get a shot in the arm???!!!!!

This gives Xerox the excuse they want to lay-off employees without paying severance … One thing this company is good at it is screwing their employees.

If hundreds, or yet even thousands, of workers do not provide proof of vaccination, then they will be fired. It's that simple. No one is that important. While you may contribute a lot to the company, the world will go in without you.

That being said: this isn't just about you. It's about the health and well being of everyone. Over 700,000 Americans alone have died from COVID-19 in just over a year. To put that in perspective: 400,000 Americans died during World War in a span of several years. Not to mention the millions of people who experienced financial hardship as a result of this Pandemic.

Sometimes, if I'm late to work or an event, I want to drive 100 miles per hour. But I don't. Why? Because it puts myself and OTHERS in danger. Sometimes, I don't want to stop when a school bus stops because I'm impatient. But I stop anyway because it protects the children getting off the bus.

It's not just about you. Please think about that.

You must work for Xerox. You conveniently omitted a key definition, you tool.

"Covered contractor workplace" – means a location controlled by a covered contractor at which any employee of a covered contractor working on or in connection with a covered contract is likely to be present during the period of performance for a covered contract. A covered contractor workplace does not include a covered contractor employee’s residence.

Consider your options:

Get the vaccine and stay for the paycheck. Then do the absolute minimum, or less. Possibly even be a drain on the company, Xerox is done for anyway in afew years so you will just accelerate the inevitable.

Or lie about getting it, collect a paycheck, risk getting fired.

Or refuse, and get fired.

Or get a new job.

The end result of all of these will the be same, you won't be working at Xerox in the future. All the gloating provaxxers here are going to be just as unemployed eventually but they can feel better getting a few more paychecks than you did.

This controversy will seem quaint when Xerox is chopped up, sold off, collapses, and ceases to exist. Sad but true. Pro or anti vaxx, update your resume and plan for the future.

Re: Guidance for Federal Contractors and Subcontractors Memo

Not sure what memo you read, but the one published Sept. 24 says this in the second paragraph of the introduction:

“These workplace safety protocols will apply to all covered contractor employees, including contractor or subcontractor employees in covered contractor workplaces who are not working on a Federal Government contract or contract-like instrument.”

And some relevant definitions:

“Covered contractor – means a prime contractor or subcontractor at any tier who is party to a covered contract.l

“Covered contractor employee – means any full-time or part-time employee of a covered contractor working on or in connection with a covered contract or working at a covered contractor workplace. This includes employees of covered contractors who are not themselves working on or in connection with a covered contract.”

Seems pretty clear to me. It’s not just people directly working on government contracts or accounts.

I love how some people have obviously not taken the time to read the only relevant advice given in the Guidance for Federal Contractors and Subcontractors. If you actually internalize and not politicize this MEMO, you will understand that the guidance only applies to the Covered Contractor or Subcontractor employees that are present at a Federal workplace. Everyone knows only a small percentage of Xerox employees visit a VA Hospital, Federal Prison or other GSA-governed location. Xerox has perverted the memo to drive vaccine rates on the behalf of an administration that it is politically aligned. It's that simple. Educate yourselves before you sound as stupid as Xerox leadership.

I love how some people are framing that this is purely a Xerox decision. Did you guys not read the memo or executive order?! The same mandate applies to ALL federal contractors, not just Xerox. Some of you anti-schmucks are trying to blame Xerox as if they made this decision on their own. They’ve made a lot of d*mb decisions but this isn’t one that you could put squarely on them.
