Thread regarding Pembina Pipeline Corp layoffs

Is another shoe about to drop?

Managers in our BU are acting extra strange and way far secretive lately. Lots of meetings and nearly impossible to get in touch with them - well, more so that normal anyway. Not talkative like they used to be. Does anyone know whats going on? Is another shoe about to drop and more layoffs?

Haha. That photo was taken 3 years ago but MD has the full-on zombie look going on. Imagine taking your kids trick-or-treating in Elbow Park and knocking on the door of his Riverdale mansion and seeing that face!? His wife will be eating full size chocolate bars in January.

MD in his natural habitat. Looking like no one loves him:

It is ironic if this site/technology has had a negative impact on hiring for Pembina. The truth never lies and will eventually come out. There was a rumour that Pembina monitors Glassdoor and Indeed after layoffs for negative reviews and would create multiple fake accounts to keep their ratings up. Keep posting the truth on here people. As long as you don't post revealing information about yourself, they can't do anything. And it probably infuriates them.

They are most certainly back with the downvotes and removal of posts. Would you look at that, eh. I get posting on here if you are former staff or a frustrated current staff member, but imagine spending time on your weekend as a current staff member to downvote and report posts critical of Pembina and poor old MD? I wonder if it is a Q4 g&o endeavour from HR/various bootlickers? I work with someone who still thinks that Pembina is the absolute world to her and when someone on my team shared a post from this site in our Teams chat this summer, she literally started to get emotional over what was posted. True story. I had to put my laptop screen down and leave the room so I could laugh at the entire scene. This place isn't so much a company as it is a cult. Bizarre intolerant internal culture. Downvote that you w@nkers.

You’re 100% correct, the Pembina cheer squad is back, and downvoting posts. Must be a few of them with how many downvotes are there. Since they’ve been gone for a while, thought maybe they had been terminated like many others lately. Wouldn’t that be fitting.

Pembina cheer squad: Welcome back. Are you here because of the poor response to job postings on Indeed and LinkedIn? Stats shown for how many people have applied are really low, especially compared to others. You can downvote everything you want, it’s not going to work. This site has exposed the truth about what it’s like working there, on top of the bad reputation they have on the street for treating their people so badly.

My post was deleted and Pembina back downvoting and removing posts here.

In a nutshell, I spoke with a lawyer this summer about my employment with Pembina. The lawyer knew several lawyers here, how the company operated, and had nothing but awful things to say. He said that Pembina playing hardball with staff during layoffs, leaves, or terminations, was solely to send a message to current staff keeping them in line. Garbage company who have a terrible reputation for a reason.

Posted somewhere below:

  1. HR shaming a woman for going on maternity leave
  1. Team giving the cold shoulder and shaming a woman for getting pregnant
  1. A manager telling their team that a male within the group who requested to take paternity leave would now be passed over for all future promotions
  1. An internal debate within a BU about hiring a black man for a managerial role
  1. Guilting employees for taking disability leave and then laying them off
  1. Top-down culture that demands 10s of hours of weekly unpaid overtime
  1. Questionable conduct within Human Resources
  1. Cronyism with internal promotions and external hires. Want to be hired at Pembina? Go drink or play golf with a Pembina manager. Competence and experience not required
  1. Nepotism with summer student hires
  1. Internal culture that is based on vindictiveness and fear. Never question the cult. Fall in line soldiers and obey your masters and sycophant HR
  1. A culture where the abuse of alcohol is not only tolerated but celebrated
  1. Alright, here is another terrible one for the list. When all of the Covid stuff kicked off and we started to work from home, a former colleague of mine started to experience symptoms of the virus. The team was texting this person checking in but when they talked to management, the only thing they were asked was "who were you last in contact with at the office" and "let us know when you are able to get back to work". Nothing about their health. The manager told them that HR and the company "nurse" would reach out to them to check-in but that never happened. Was chatting with them a few months ago and they said that after that went down, they had their resume open on one screen while working, and that Pembina paid for them to find another job. The response was very Pembina-like.
  1. Pembina is the only company I worked for in my career where if a quality person and decent performer accepted a position at another company, we didn't openly celebrate them or look inward as to why they left. As soon as the person had one foot out the door, they were criticized and their contributions minimized. It was serious Stockholm syndrome. People need to accept that these cultural issues are tolerated from the top down and there isn't anyone high level in the executive "pipeline" under Mick who have an appetite for changing these things. As long paycheques are cashed and the shareholder is looked after, who cares. I'm curious so see how far behind the eight ball Pembina will be in 5 years.
  1. I'll add something that still makes me angry to this day. I was hired at Pembina in 2014 and sometime in 2015 there was a female on our team in her late twenties who was going through an obvious challenging time with her mental health and was struggling. It was heartbreaking seeing it take place from the sidelines, and I genuinely wondered if she would even be in the office the next day or if she took her own life. I remember seeing our HR business partner visit the office of our manager to obviously discuss options about the situation. A day or two later after that visit, the manager took her office away, assigned it to someone else, and increased her workload and field visits... to obviously make her resign and rid the company of any liability. Another note to the story: This is the same team that debated hiring a black man to replace said manager. It's all true and disgusting.

Pembina: Love our family because you won’t be seeing much of yours.... S—er

The title change exercise was to insult the ego of certain people in an effort to force resignations without having to pay severance, and it is a total cop out from the company to show savings come bonus time. Pembina likes to drag things out making it as uncomfortable as possible for certain people vs. simply laying them off and parting ways. That says everything you need to know about Pembina as they want to sc--w you over vs. looking after you.... Even if you dedicated your career to them. I am certain there is an item in HRs Goals and Objectives that they won't layoff people, but let them resign.

That being said, I know of someone who had their title changed and they are barely qualified with the one they have now. Either way, chickensh1t move by Pembina. But not surprising. Classless organization. Avoid applying here if you read this site.

If they hold true to past behaviours they'll have a few rounds of 'layoffs' late Mid -November to early December.

If I was one of the Managers who was given a new job title of Specialist I'd be a little worried.

Would make sense as it is Q4 and people want to nail down their final targets to get a nice bonus. Reduction in headcount is certainly one of those targets. Knowing our company, Pembina will hold off until Christmas to do any layoffs just to be a-holes. In terms of how Pembina treats its staff, they are on par as a two-star Red Deer service company. Happy to know that people are moving on from this dump.
