I’ve been interviewing with a number of big and small companies the last few weeks. I’m on my 4th interview with an Oracle competitor. One thing I noticed, you can be happy and laugh about work. I’ve laughed more with people from these companies than I have in over a decade at Oracle. My small GBU is such a sad and miserable group of people. Catty. Gossip. Condescending. Just terrible humans. I realize that if you are bad as a person, you’re typical gonna suck as an employee. I am close to landing a new job and it has enlightened me. I talk to customers and tell them how it is. Tell them, “you bought a cloud hosted app…it has issues….talk to your sales rep if you don’t want to renew.” I’ve come to terms that the rats will always be rats and when no one comes to their retirements parties with the plastic red Oracle plates, they’ll ask, “what did I really do for 20-30 years besides hurt people?”
I’m getting back to my old self. Excited, engaged, energetic.
I’m sorry Oracle. Well I’m not. You have lost the race and no one cares about.
Ok. Gotta shower for my next round of interviews! On the Oracle dime!
