Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

WFR Oct 18, 2021

Today my number came up. No regrets after 39 years of service. Would have been nice if I could have worked another 2 years but it is what it is. At least my boss told me the reason I got laid off was because of my salary and she had a number to hit. I will miss my co-workers; really nice people... The corporate culture not so much. My only advise to any of you youngsters reading this don't stay too long with one company; they will use you up until the very end....ciao'

Don't. It's a war of attrition. Compared to you, they have unlimited resources. They will wear you down while you do nothing but pay retainer fees to an attorney. In the end, you'll be lucky if you break even. My wife and I went through this with Agilent and it was exactly that. And it took ~six years.

I am little shocked at the number of experienced people leaving HPE. I do not think they are all getting laid off but many are jumping like rats from a ship. I am very happy that I made the correct choice in leaving over a year ago. HPE management seems to be pretty clueless on proper direction of the company.

If you're retiring after this, congratulations!

I noticed a lot of the older folks (including myself) are long-time HPE folks. But what I learned is you need to keep moving from job-to-job every few years for the following reasons: 1) You expand your horizons and learn new ways of doings things at other jobs and you can apply what you've learned from your previous jobs. 2) That's the only way you're going to get a good pay raise. If you stay at any one company too long, your annual pay raises will be pitiful.

Some people don't like "change", but I loved it, learning how other companies did things, applying what I learned in my career and leaving the past behind. Don't waste your time wallowing in "my company sucks", just move on to a new job and get a pay raise while you're at it. You will never know if you don't throw your hat in the ring, especially when it's currently an employee's market right now!

If you are being paid good money, working at HPE/I is fine. Take the money. It's money. Take it. When they stop giving you money, leave.

Don't get sucked into the loyalty game. It just adds to the stress. Money. That's the only reason you are there.

Yes, life will be good. I heard 37 ASM's and 4 managers. So much for Customer Support...

You will be just fine... actually better. Give it about 6-8 weeks and you will absolutely love life. HPE has been just dis-functional for about 23 years now.

Congrats for making it 39 years. Yes, staying at HPE is a bad idea, and the culture is cr-p. Take the money and do something more rewarding.

I quit after 45 years. At some point it was enough. Take your money and enjoy life!

I just heard a Manager over ASM's in Texas was laid off along with 4 other ASM's. ASM's were the glue that held services together. I've known ASMs working for the same accounts for over 20yrs. They are the face and the "one throat to choke" the customer could rely on. HPE is a toilet.

39 years! Very impressive in this day and age. Enjoy a well deserved retirement, friend. What you did for the last 40 years provided fuel for your life, with more left over for retirement leisure!
