Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Hold Sr. Managers accountable.

Did you know that Network Assurance Sr. Managers with bonus average about $150.00.00 per year. If your manager is a lazy uninvolved work from home, no technical expertise individual, the time has come to make them pull their weight. Living on conference calls and forwarding emails and spreadsheets is not worth that kind of money. Hold them accountable. Shine the light on their incompetence. Stop giving these undeserving individuals high Employee Satisfaction marks. But... also remember to praise the few very good leaders that we have left!

NA Managers are just bullies and paper pushers.

Nothing more.

Our last one was hired from outside and knew nothing about fibers, sfps, didn't even know anything about programming an enode.

He couldn't get a site on air from start to finish if he wanted to but he would sure as he-l would make sure if there was bugs on the floor that they needed to be cleaned up!

Come on...

Yeah, if they are making around $150K we shouldn't have to train them in our Network Assurance work, and since many or them are not Technicians we shouldn't have to take their troubleshooting advice either. My old managers first question always was, "Did you clean the fibers"? My answer, " Im working on a power plant issue here, there are no fibers". I was also arguing with another previous Manager about an antenna issue we were having. He kept bragging about his 5 years as being a NA tech. He knew what he is talking about..etc. He told me to replace the antenna, I told him not so fast, the antenna sweeps indicate a bad transmission line. (Back before hybrid cable came along) He didn't believe me, I sent him the copies of the sweeps, he shot back that he didn't know how to read them. I said "So you really have 5 years experience as a Tech huh? He was just one of these fools that thinks a manager is always smarter than his reports are.
