Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Pay increase needed

Is Verizon going to do anything about increasing pay? With the yearly pay increases of 2 to 3%, we're losing purchasing power each year.

Also, who wants to bet that "corporate" and "network" gets another 100%+ STI while all other workers get less than 100%? Pretty sure customer facing employees do a lot more stressful work.

You’ll get a 3% raise then they will figure out a way to lower your commission checks!

… when the original poster figures out that the STI is a percentage of pay for the “corporate or network people” estimated roughly as 2-3% of their pay lmao…. Not to mention the fact that retail got $2500-10000 in an account maturing every year for three years. Easy to forget what you’ve been given when you are worried too much about what others are given instead of you.

You get a yearly raise

Small raise, just enough to beat inflation in the past. Not to mention many people get more or less depending on the state they live in.

>healthcare
Most companies provide healthcare and I've never had to use it

Thousands in a bonus

Less than $1,000 after taxes, remember what it used to be before they reduced it a few years ago?

Plenty of promotion opportunities

Love all of these temp positions available, most with no pay increase.

look around, you are at the top

Yeah, I don't see it that way and I know a lot of people don't either.

When inflation was at historic lows 2-3% was fine. Now that inflation is taking off that will put you under water. Couple that with the new STI rules which virtually guarantee that you won't hit 100% and a stock bonus tied to a stock price that never budges, and you have some serious reduction in pay.

I predict a banner year of people asking for a more equitable raise.

Has anyone ever tried to ask for more? I've asked for more with job changes, but not during raise discussions.
