Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Seriously, do you think anyone really cares about you anymore

Whenever they are saying it is good for the employees or the customer, the translation is it is good for the stockholder. Which means it is good for Wilson, Shapiro, Rizzo, Gupta, Williams, Parsons, Brandt, etc. They could care less about any of you. and for those in the field including the agents, that also means Sullivan, Telgenhoff, Bradley and Adamzyck. They are secure in their future. But the question is, do you feel as secure in your future as they doin theres?

They all could give two flips about you.

I don’t thing Allstate will be Purchased by Progressive. Allstate is broken on so many levels that it would be a big drag on Progressive’s bottom line. Prog has done a fantastic job growing from within over the decades and doesn’t need the Allstate (Sears 2.0) to succeed.

By the way, to the other posters, the Prog CEO is Tricia Griffith and she’s stellar and a huge motivating force for the rank and file.

@1bwn+1deRgtso Great Post and assessment of Carl Ichans strategy. The problem right now is Allstate is getting eaten. Our competitors are licking their chops at all states expense.

No one said Progressive will re-brand Allstate homeowners as Progressive. Kathy Griffin is a very intelligent woman. She will know how to leverage the Allstate brand.

AllState officers and others think this is it, people should beg to work here and feel privileged. It has been that way for a long time. The big blue blindness. They are limited in their view, especially long term officers, directors and sr leaders. Always a problem for this company that leaders think everyone should want to work here. Short sighted when trying to attract and retain true talent. There are other opportunities and there is life after this company. Many very talented people have moved on for far better opportunity and appreciation. It does exist. Move on securely knowing your capabilities and talent. If we all know anything at this point, a company does not define you.

Allstate’s home product under a Progressive label is cr-p. Keep dreaming.

I have no idea whether Progressive has any interest in buying Allstate, but I am sure that Icahn did not buy stock in Allstate without any plan for it to be a notable part of his portfolio. Every purchase Icahn makes is part of a plan. He is an activist and companies in which he invests usually end up eating or get eaten.

@1gcr+1deRgtso the writing is on the wall. Wilson is 63 and he can exit with a great deal of cash if he were to sell Allstate. He is purposely making Allstate a leaner operation. Moreover, he is doing this under the guise that he is going to fix the auto product. He has done nothing to fix the auto line of insurance. By 2023 there should only be 8,000 agents left. Home office will be a shell of what it use to be. Look for Allstate to get rid of the broker dealer and Allstate benefits next. Why is Ichan in on the party? He claims he likes the direction of the company…oh please! He has enough shares to be a pain in the A$$ to Wilson and cronies. All of these drastic moves he is making is putting a coat of wax to move Allstate. Makes too much sense to get rid of this shrinking ship. Patty Griffin needs the home product that Allstate has. She has greater flexibility with her shareholders also to make this happen.

Progressive isn't going to buy Allstate... Ichan had such a small stake in Allstate, even a merger like described wouldn't do enough for him to be a notable part of his portfolio.

Keep fear mongering, CNN would be proud.

Allstate was the number 2 carrier in the United States. We were a local presence in the community. The customer use to mean something to all of us. Now the customer is just a number. Employees are just a cog in a highly elaborate bureaucracy.

Allstate is now trying to play catch up in the direct arena. The direct program will be a failure. You can trace the failure all the way back to when Sears got rid of the catalog. Allstate has been trying to sell direct for 20 years. Every step of the way has been a failure. I am independent agent and I can tell you Progressive is light years ahead of Allstate in pricing. Moreover, Progressive has passed Allstate in claims satisfaction on the Allstate side.

Wilson has a short leash on him with the shareholders. They will not allow him the latitude to be successful in direct channel. The Agency force is demoralized and has one foot in the grave. His actions of the the past 2 years has made the damage irreversible.

Allstate is for sale. It will be sold to Progressive. The only thing of value that Allstate has is a highly functional home product. The balance sheet is very pristine and getting better. Progressive can fix the auto product. Furthermore, Patty Griffin needs Allstate’s home product.

Carl Ichan is not invested in the company because he likes Tom Wilson. He is here to cash in his chips on a merger. There will be a blood bath loss off jobs on the Allstate side. If you are an employee please read the writing on the wall. Do what’s best for your family and future. Look beyond Allstate and save your health.

Post ID: @zfa+1deRgtso Is it not amazing the poor quality of software a Fortune 100 company has? People experience crashes, lockups, near daily the ATSC hides or escalates your issue then closes it without ever fixing it. When people bring up issues in "huddles" the CLSs will all say that definitely needs to be addressed, and then nothing happens lol. Its a farce how bad things are and how dysfunctional this organization is.

Shareholders care that stock is going up well sure it has when you cut tons of expenses but agents are not selling policies and give it time, the false gains of propped up stock from cutting to the bone will come home to roost.

Get out now if you can serious word is out in industry how bad Allstate is.

Am I in violation of company policy to post my opinion? Its not a material fact so HO kiss my @$$ btw.

I assume they care about employees as much as employees care about them. (As in Not).

What’s important to me is to have a job that is well designed with user friendly tools so that I can be effective and confident at what I do.

Allstate has found a way to create the exact opposite.

Most employers don't give a sh-t about anything but the bottom line. Allstate is one of those employers.
