Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Is Nike increasingly moving away from sports in general?

A small digression, this topic has little to do with layoffs, but I am very disappointed because this text reminded me that Nike decided to let Federer go.

You may not agree, but I think the younger generations associate Nike with fashion, not sports, and I think that’s a big mistake for this brand.

Nike is disintegrating.
Just a microcosm of what’s happening in our society.

Accept LA Gear was dope AF. Nike has played itself. Any content I see these days is desperately virtue signaling to the outside, and we all know the self-absorbed pandering that plagues the inside. It just gets worse and worse.

They would love to cut out all the sports marketing money they spend on inevitable bad PR when supporting sh---y people and organizations.

Generations change, heck, the new generation only wants to play video games. Do you think they know what OBJ does for a main occupation or is he a personality on Call of Duty Warzone?

We live and die by the next generation.

I agree to an extent, the only talk of sports at nike are these cheesy company colloquialisms of “teamwork” “pass the ball” “coach your team” etc etc. it’s like sports live only as this hollow euphemism to communicate empty feedback. The fact that they let Drake ride a jet ski in the “protected wetlands” of the Nike pond during one of our biggest layoffs still says enough for me lol. I think other companies are surpassing us in the delivery of quality performance product. I would love to see Nike turn this ship around and come out on top but idk man.
