Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Do the bare minimum to stay out of trouble

Personal, I don’t want to move since all my families have been here over the years. However, due to the COVID, the inflation is crazy. On one side the company raise me 1% per year and I can’t afford to live here now and another side I see a lot of people’s doing nothing yet can get 5% or more and promotion. This company do not recognize people by performance. The more you do the less you get.
= = =
I would add to this post from +1d9we88h thread, that working more than bare minimum is just asking for trouble, because if you work hard here, instead of raise, you will only get more work. So maybe the best advice is to do the bare minimum to avoid complicating your life?

Absolutely agree with the original poster. If you are stuck to GF for whatever reason, best not to go that extra mile. If you work more than others, you will only get more work. This year's raises and promotions are done for us peons below level 10. For the next cycle, it will probably be several months after the IPO, and they will do all sorts of tricks to show profit, so they can cash out their stock and jump the ship. Avoid unnecessary meetings, if you think you will get points for those and learn something. Use that time to look for better opportunities, internal or external. If processes and systems are broken because of stupid management, grandfathered in from IBM etc, don't be the worker bee clearing their mess, as they don't know what recognition is. They think praise is good enough. Make sure accountable people are named and favoritism is pointed. Don't leave any opportunity to point out bad decisions which GF makes every day. Morale has hit lowest. Let GF see what a disgruntled workforce who is taken for granted by incompetent SLT and middle management can do.

my experience is a little bit different. I worked a little harder to outshine peers and got promoted. One problem is that I hate where I am at now. Tread carefully, I guess.
