my team hasn't been directly affected by recent [past 1-2 yrs] shadow layoffs or even attrition, but my workload has still increased. Lack of foresight [bad mgmt+planning]

They’re quitting NOW because of increase in workload due to layoffs, High expectations without operations and low pay for more hours and high exceptions.

Sad.

Here in Singapore, management is so desperate that they will ask you to recommend your friends to join GF in EVERY TOWN HALL MEETING!!!! In most comm sessions, HODs will remind engineers to bring their friends in. Many of my colleagues easily found jobs but will say jobless. Management will ask you to consider taking a 3 month no pay leave but not willing to raise the salary. Sometimes, I wonder whether their action helps with the situation or makes it worse.

what do the numbers look like? It definitely seems like there are more "goodbye, add me on LinkedIn emails", but I haven't seen it quantified anywhere. There was also some tentative acknowledgement of there being an attrition issue in one of the globalcast/all hands.

Personal, I don’t want to move since all my families have been here over years. However, due to the COVID, the inflation is crazy. On one side the company raise me 1% per year and I can’t afford to live here now and another side I see a lot of people’s doing nothing still can get 5% or more and promotion. This company do not recognize people by performance. The more you do the less you get. And don’t think about the IPO you will be rich. First of all, can the company go to IPO still the question and second even it successfully IPO the senior level will get most of the money. The company has no development or new technologies at all. Even it go to market, after two to three years, the investors will lose the confidence and at that moment it will get even worse.

They are quitting over 1% raises, when meeting yearly financial targets in less than 6 months, as well as finding out that they can get 10-30% higher salary/total compensation packages if they are willing to move, accounting for standard for living differences.
