A young guy who is relatively new went into a lengthy rant earlier this week about HR and how instead of helping him, it actually puts obstacles between him and relevant training, benefits, or whatever else it is they're supposed to be helping him with. It's good to see that some things never change. Nike might have been a good company at one time but HR was always there just to help the company, never the employer.

Err… that’s the role of HR in any company. Manage the human capital in the most efficient and effective way for the shareholder. If HR was there to act on behalf of employees then corporations wouldn’t even exist.
