Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

NO THANKS to the overtime

I would rather observe que times at an all time high and witness customers becoming disgruntled. The greatest feeling is when the first shift all leave and we are down to 2 reps with 10 still in the que. The look on customers faces is priceless. I work even slower at that point. Oh BTW I would work overtime and stay when the store is busy IF we were on the old commission plan. See how that works out ? Team commission is so much more of a failure then just how we get paid.

Well here’s the report on my forecast from 8 days ago, the seasonal, non employee greeter did not even make the holiday weekend she called out sick and we haven’t seen her since! Thus ast MGR’s have to be at door thus they can’t hang out anymore (in the back) I guess the nasty, condescending and entitled customers really did a number on her psyche.

Hopefully people have the ba--s to actually call out black Friday. I will. There is a large general strike is going down across many companies and workers across the country.

If you're too chicken to call out at least cause your transactions to go FUBAR and help only a couple customers your whole shift. It's really easy to break the system and just be like "2.0, I don't know what happened"

I don’t miss it a bit! Happy Holidays! I do feel bad for the people that still work there

I had to work 65 hours to make 1/4 of what my commission check use to be. I know, I’m insanely stupid for taking all that time away from my family, but the holidays are right around the corner & I need money. It becomes pretty easy when youre numb to the a$$ho-e customers and cr---y point of sale.

I can’t believe Verizon would even offer the overtime and bonus program. They know full well everyone in the stores are burned out . All you have to do is look at all the employees that have been out on short term to see what kind of effect this place has had on all of us. Now you want burned out people to work even more during the week ? That will have some severe consequences. Once again leadership who never comes in the stores are totally oblivious to the current situation. Good luck with that !

More hours worked more chance for a bad survey. It's almost like they know RIS will be terrible in December so they want you to make up money on OT. F that for reals. Who at all unless your a broke new hire that is lucky to have a job because you aren't working at walmart or driving uber wants to put in over time. Such a slap in the face because I remember in 2019 I willingly and happily worked bell to bell on BF. I now won't be taking a customer 30mins before my shift ends and if I'm still with a customer I will tell them that I'm off and the next rep will have to pick it up. Can you imagine the mo--ns that think this is OK Lets go brando!

Just out of curiosity is there anyone who believes that their store will hit a 2.0 ? I mean that is the only way you can hit the heavily taxed bonus of $600. The real money is in the overtime but working more then 40 hours in a busy holiday month is a recipe for a nervous breakdown. Yeah my health and family are more important .

I can imagine this happening… Rep “ hey where is my extra $600?” Verizon “ oh that’s the thanksgiving overtime pay we pay every year”….

Theyre basically saying they can afford to pay us an extra $600 but they only will if we work an extra 8 hours. I remember when they used to pay us an extra $600 every month just for hitting our individual quotas. Yeah... I wont be working any extra than I need to.

@2ana+1dV9IHCI This totally makes sense ! If anything it would have solved a short term problem but could lead to greater animosity if they went back to team commission in January. They still have nothing to lose trying it this way.

If I was Verizon I would have brought back individual commission as a test program for the month of December. Even if they tweaked it at least there would be less push back for working overtime and more ambition to sell things. It could have accomplished a lot. At this point most reps will not work overtime nor will they give it 100% when it comes to driving sales. The most important month of the year sales wise and stores are running thin with nothing to get excited about. December for Verizon corporate retail will be a failure. November has already proven as much since numbers at resellers are coming in way above those at corporate locations.

i love my team like a family, but if its one thing I wont do is work any OT i
love my ppl but grew to detest this job with a passion since last year, it use to be awesome and under my individual comm i didnt mind staying late if it was a good sale in queue, now i peace and i could care less because it doesnt pay anymore to work your a-s off

What if they just actually paid us for our efforts and not of hostile surveys.

well well, looks like no one is applying for this "Not your typical sales job" like the add we have all over our store for the last 3 months and one applies LOL LOL LOL

Our manager even sent a text twice to the team and no one, NO ONE, replied saying yes we are doing OT.

OT means first less time with my fam, more stress, more dummy customers, more just orders since we don't have the phones and for sure more bad surveys.

Yes, I do love to go home and see their sad faces waiting for 1 hour and only two reps and both new so they work very slow LOL!

Let's Go Brandon! and no I am getting the jab =)

I refuse to sacrifice my well being for the company’s benefit. They won’t get an extra hour out of me for the rest of the year.

Ris scores last year were abysmal starting the day after Thanksgiving thru the December month.Mainly because of wait times and waiting in the cars because of capacity compliance. This year we have supply chain issues ( very little phones and tablets in stock) and an advertisement on TV saying come in for the 13 pro ( backordered mid December thru January) depending on the model and in small type telling it has to be a new line while the actress it’s upgrades etc etc . Our store is at 100 percent ris right now I predict we won’t be by end of the month thus your commission will be decelerated, So if you can take the nasty and condescending customers that all feel entitled, then you should try to milk the overtime? It a double edged sword Good luck! Our new seasonal non employee greeter is in for a shock! If she gets thru the season sorry to say I’ll be surprised

Lets do some math.
Manager making lets say $20 an hour.
And sales rep making $15 an hour.
Lets say they both hit the 2.0 multiplier and work 40 extra overtime hours in the month.

Manager pockets $400 (half overtime pay for the month) +$600 bonus = $1000.
Sales rep pockets $880 (overtime pay) + $600 bonus = $1480.

This completely screws management.

Team commission = No I will not be staying late because we have a 5 line SMB deal waiting in the queue

Old individual commission = Yes, I will gladly stay late.

They want to pay Assistant Mgrs in Arizona this bonus for overtime. But they also pay Assistant mgrs only half our regular hourly rate over 40 hours here and not time and a half like other states. Kiss my bass.

Any jackwagon still stupid enough to walk into a cell phone shop deserves to sit there and rot in the queue. Smart people shop online and have it mailed to their door.

Not to mention that the extra pay isn't worth how horrible customers have become. Also if they are willing to pay us extra why aren't we always worth this to you.

This incentive is too complex for the issue they are trying to solve for, which is more bodies working more hours. The likelihood a store hits the full 2.0 is very slim and just to make an extra 600 “potentially”. This is a no deal for me dawg. Team commission and a bad POS doesn’t make me want to stay more hours.

Maybe they should just pay their employees fairly instead of trying to incentivise them to work more hours. Work Life Balance is more important to me than this company or its customers. I do need money but there's absolutely no chance I'd want to be at the store dealing with these customers, tablets, POS systems or managers any longer than I have to.

I care about metrics as much as they care about fixing the pos systems. Take your time folks. Don't work too hard. They'll just find a way to steal more money from your paycheck eventually. Aka RIS

100% agreed. Team commission has totally altered our mindset. There is no drive or excitement around sales wins. When it is time to go home it’s time to go no matter what. No going that extra mile. No to overtime as well.
