Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

What changes would you make here?

Everyone is talking about leadership that has no vision... that has lost its direction.... that is making bad moves... I completely agree. However, when I ask my colleagues what changes they would like to see here, the answer is mostly “fire bad management”. There aren’t many details about what’s next, what changes you’d like to see other than that.

Stop dragging this out. As might as well redefine GA with digital conversion rate. Your new, and most important contribution standard is how many upgrades you didn’t process in the store. Where the customer went after that, including a competitor, not as important as the main thing that you didn’t upgrade them. Oh and maybe we should have an end of sale recap on how to make your purchase online next time. I might actually be a little bit more on board if there was more honesty about what the actual vision is.

You want things to improve in retail? Start eliminating the directors. We have too many. Majority of them only care about themselves. They all do things different to be better than one another, so they can boost their ego for the next conference call. The only initiatives they are aligned on are Instagram and conference calls. Hans is wasting money paying these people for bringing no value.

#1 issue, decide if we are about taking care of the customer or making money for the company via sales.

Stay out of politics, drop the CRT training. Drop Social Justice Platform. Focus on shareholder value.

@caf+1dTc0zJH wish I could up vote your comment again because its spot on everything that would make retail great again.

However I have little to no hope at all that anyone competent will make a change for the betterment of their employees. Over the last year it seems they want to set us up for failure so they could have an excuse to pay us less. Not sure why you'd be okay with disgruntled employees when they're the ones doing the work for you. I guess it just feels like our job means nothing to them now. And by them I mean leadership.

  1. Compensate sales people individually.
  2. Bring in brand new POS software.
  3. Recognize employees with money or gift not just a shoutout.
  4. Have sales contests like years ago. Example, sell 10 JBL speakers you get a free one.
  5. Bring back kickoff meetings, team builds, make work fun again.
  6. Stop advertising open positions as part time....doesn't attract "career" focused people.
  7. Allow us to order snacks from staples.
  8. Pay management a correct overtime wage
  9. Make online and in store promos THE SAME thing
  10. Stand against the vaccine mandate. We are losing too many good people.

There's my list. What do you agree with?

Every position and person at Staples is in it for themselves. Departments need to better communicate on projects and work as 1 team.

No one takes notes and peoples opportunities are mostly fluff.

Inside teams: stop forcing talk time and dials on your reps and making them fear for there jobs, only hurting yourself. Help them have quality calls and not quantity.

Outside sales: it’s such a great life compared to inside. Much better pay and allows you to be you. I liked working a lot and loved the freedom.

Higher ups: whoever thought of anaplan, is a joke and no one can explain who they get paid out. You took away much needed visibility to see what accounts have been slipping away. Sunrise shows you what account your attached to. Run a “book of business” with your employee I’d also. Stop working accounts that are other people.

Finally make it fun to work there again.

It’s sad that they got ride of such great talent.
