Sure earning are great when one of the company's biggest controllables (labor expense) is running significantly behind last year it's easy to have a great qurater. The number of unfilled jobs at Macy's is comical and while it looks great on the bottom line, it's not sustainable. Most of the country is facing the great resignation, here at Macy's we are facing the great ...gee maybe we shouldn't keep telling people they don't get a raise whenever the company has a bad year, and then lay everyone off, and then wonder why nobody wants to work here any more kinda situation.
Did you read a different article? Sales are up according to the earnings report. According to this everything is peachy.
