Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Forgotten by leader

These past few weeks have been torture since learning I was one of the ones being laid off. I had a meeting with my supervisor immediately after the announcement, but since then, I feel completely ignored. We are forced to attend weekly team meetings, where all we hear is talk of the future and how things will be different. We are expected to attend town halls where all the successes of the past year and financials are discussed and cheered, and not one single second is spent talking about the cost of these profits in the loss of employees. I made my metrics. My quality scores were 100%. So why me? That's what nobody can (or will) answer.

I am sad. I am angry. But, da---t, I am not invisible. Each day I show up, force a smile, and take care of members, even when I would rather go back to bed. Is it so hard to acknowledge how difficult this is for some of us and show some sensitivity? Sorry for the rant, I just had to get it out.

Your manager is probably not ignoring you on purpose. The learning, training, planning, organizing, 10 to 12 hour days & weekend hours. It's more likely being overwhelmed than deliberately dismissive. Hope you find something great.

I saw that over the weekend. Got some emails from some recruiters and they are paying $4100 a Week plus room and board for travel nurses in the Southeast region. You can pick your 12 hour shift and your days you want to work. The 4100 a week does not include shift differentials. I could work another year at that rate and then retire early. Seriously thinking about it. Had I realized the salaries went up so much I would’ve opted out.

We are in huge demand as nurses in the workforce now. I have friends making 3-5 k a week. When I left the bedside I was overworked and underpaid. I’m taking the layoff as a God send. Heading back to some bedside job where I will be appreciated and well compensated. Good luck to everyone.

They are going to work us to death until they finally let us go. Definitely don’t care about our wellness. Where is the Human Care for their employees?

There was no rhyme or reason who was picked to stay. The new job sounds like every form of cm and pharmacy rolled into one. Thank your lucky stars you get to make a change. You won’t regret it.

The more I learn about what is coming for those of us who are staying (it’s not pretty), the more I think you are going to be way better off. Practice lots of self care through this difficult time. I have heard there are a good many WAH choices right now listed on Indeed.com. May untold happy and bountiful blessings flow your way.

They don't care about us. We're just a number on a spreadsheet. You're going to end up somewhere better with how hot the job market is right now.
