Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Is it possible for everyone to be satisfied?

I am more and more bitter because I am becoming painfully aware of how irrelevant and replaceable we are to them. On the other hand, I am increasingly coming to terms with it because it is impossible to change.

Can you imagine this company with those at the top, shareholders and employees all satisfied? I can not.

Someone has to be dissatisfied, and that’s unfortunately always us.

I'm not too satisfied. I got RIF'ed on 10/28 after 16 years and being a part of building 4 networks. No explanation except is was for budget reasons, but I am not sure how my little salary is going to fix the expense budget deficit of $51M. If it was performance, be upfront with me, otherwise I just feel abandoned by my leadership, and I won't be trying to stay at Verizon. They don't want to keep experienced or mature people.

Is everyone on your team even satisfied or dissatisfied? Most of us want different things and usually they are at confict with others or else they wouldnt be different.

I work for Verizon. But really, I work for myself. I agree to exchange my labor for benefits and pay. This is a fair exchange and, if ever I feel otherwise, I am free to leave this deal and work somewhere else anytime I please. In this, as an employee, I am satisfied.

I am a Verizon shareholder. Or stick has not done well this year but it pays a good dividend. Whenever it takes a hit I buy a little more. As such, I am satisfied.

I can’t speak for the higher ups, for you, or for anyone else. But as for me, I am satisfied.
