Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Veterans day message for SF!

I enjoyed serving the veterans breakfast when we employed them. The smile on their face for just a thank you. The time we had could never be bought. Then, SF took that moment away from us due to cost while at the same time CEO gets 20 million dollar bonus. I spent many hours consoling veterans who urinated their clothing in the backs of Bradley's going into Baghdad while representing SF. Only to have a VP tell me we don't hire veterans because of how they are trained to think. Believe that? A slap in the face to me, the soldiers, and the Marines. I say: Shame on you SF! I will never compromise my love for the brothers in arms that are willing to die for us. If anything, I will always tip my hat and look up to them for doing a job that so many of you couldn't. My heartfelt sincere thanks. They gotta go through me to get to you.

Some of you have gotten way off topic. The very beginning of OPs post makes it apparent that OP is likely not a veteran. Just a little disappointed that yet another decent State Farm gesture is now a thing of the past.

@2kbn, Yes, entitlement! Entitlement is becoming a problem all over this country, no argument there. If someone has served, particularly as a combat vet, (which I don’t think are among those demanding or insulted there isn’t a cr@ppy breakfast) I’d be shocked if they cared about SF’s meal, fake patriotism, and a pitch from agency. Back in the day when SF cared about employees it meant something. Now that it’s under Tippy’s regime, no one cares and they realize the top leadership doesn’t two sh!ts about vets or individuals. How can you argue that? The point is, those who have served (other than a higher ranking officer) should probably be more grateful for what they have, not about being insulted that their employer recognizes them as a vet. They’ve seen people living in mud huts in a war zone with several generations of their family and that vision is seared into their brains for the rest of their lives. Your breakfast means nothing. Nice try.

Entitlement! You mean id--t. You think these BLM and ANTIFA don't preach entitlement? Your college brats today who are all about me and you wanna talk entitlement? You are part of what's wrong with this country. At least the military has discipline which is something you apparently don't have.

The entitlement attitude that many veterans have is slowly chipping away at respect the general public has for them. The idea of quiet, selfless service is completely defeated when you publicly complain about a cr@p breakfast served by VP’s and upper echelon leaders with insincere, cheesy smiles on their faces. Then a 45 minute presentation about agency. Eff that breakfast, The overused “Thank you for your service” phrase is uncomfortable to every vet I know. Get over yourself and quit dropping the vet card. Go to the VA and volunteer with brothers or sisters in arms if you want to be fulfilled and talk with vets.

Sad part of this is the witness to it. A veteran and a policyholder who replied: "Boy is that a slap in the face." Then the policyholder walked away and said: What kind of CS is this?

What would you expect. Has the leader of state farm ever done anything that doesnt benefit him personally. Never seen a leader so less involved historically in the community. Name anything he has done in central illinois throughout his career.

I guess some people really love their breakfast. Take it away, and they will seek their revenge.

State Farm has plenty of faults, but their treatment of veterans is outstanding.

SF has a long history of supporting veterans . Since 2005, SF has been a GI Jobs Magazine award winner recognized as a leading company in support of Veterans. SF is 1 of 200 private sector companies that is a member of Veterans Job Mission which is committed to those that serve. How do I know this-I too am a veteran that proudly serves on SF’s Veteran Employee Resource Group.

If the VP said that he/she was wrong . I am a veteran and know many others that work at SF. I have always felt respected by SF for my service. I find your projection on the entire company of what may or may not have been said dubious at best. Do you have a lot of VP conversations?

@cva - And he still beat your pathetic orange god, go figure. That marmalade slob promised to get us out of Afghanistan but didn't. He even negotiated with the Ta----n, which granted them legitimacy and undercut the Afghan Govt. Face it, no US President covered himself with glory over there.
