They announced layoffs of roughly 3300 people within Auto Originations.
Well said. Also those toxic-cultural teams usually have high turnover rate. If you happened to fall into one of those teams, find another job soon and send them your final gift of resignation letter would be your best choice. There will be no fair rules for you to play and no “justice” from senior management or HR.

The company is creative with their ability to reduce headcount. Maybe they will just ratchet up the lower end numbers for reviews so a higher distribution falls into the danger zone. That is a tactic that has been used. As I recall, they only did it for certain groups so they could get rid of more people without announcing any headcount reduction. If you are going to work at Capital One, you need to understand it will always be like this and your job is never certain. Whether it is layoffs or playing with the performance distribution numbers or whatever means they want to dispose of you, it will happen when they want/need it to. Your best bet is to try to claim as much work as your own as possible, try to undermine your co-workers as often as you can, try to be as visible as you can to the folks who will be in cross cals, kiss as much senior bu-t as you can and always be sure to undermine all those at your level, especially those who will be 'graded' along with you. Who's it gonna be, you or them??
