Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Sinking ship

The situation is getting worse here month after month. I hope that in 2022 I will not be here but in another company. There seems to be nothing more we can hope for?

Thank goodness that I jumped off when I did. Here’s a new strategy that HPE should explore. Offshore all of upper management because the people currently in charge don’t have a clue of how to run a corporation.

"I was wfr/forced retired after 30 plus years in 2017. Best thing ever happened to me. I make double what i was making at hpe work less hours and have more job security than i ever had at hpe. Only regret it did’t happen sooner. "

Sure you are. Posting this is proof you aren't.

I just heard in a meeting this week that Microsoft is cancelling a contract? Also apparently we aren't supporting GPU's on the Hawks3/next gen of superdome. WTF kind of "High performance" servers don't support GPU's

Minus the desktops and laptops, HPE is Compaq 20yrs ago, except HPE is smaller and less efficient. It has gone full circle. Time to get off the merry-go round.

What does HPE even do anymore?

Hardware? Okay well they only make products once every one million years. Plus, this industry is gearing towards software and cloud solutions, especially now during a chip shortage issue.

Software? Really? I don't think so. It's all hardware management I guess.

Cloud computing? Cool, well, I can just do that on my computer. Their hardware can do it marginally faster.

Quantum computing? Nope, Neri said that wouldn't be within the scope of HPE, which is quite untrue. I don't see how he thinks the company can use silicon forever.

Things to compete against Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud? Even Docker or Kuebnetes? Nope, again Neri thinks it's out of scope.

Any new strategies to keep the company stand out? Nope, just keep doing the same thing and keep everything as a service. Who cares about quantum computing, edge computing, APIs, etc.? HPE doesn't care.

Okay so what does HPE even do?

They provide subscription based hardware (AKA Greenlake) with web based software that configures hardware and you can run third party solutions. Their hardware is probably slightly better than your modern spec'd PC.

HPE has storage solutions can be provided elsewhere for free* such as Google Drive or Dropbox, etc.

*Free for small space, very cheap annual subscriptions for nearly infinite storage space. The point is that HPE storage is practically useless.

Oh and I guess they can give you consultation on financial advice...?

Honestly, IBM looks slightly better than them. How is Neri still CEO? Tell your board to vote him out.
