Interesting that the stock vale is going up at the same time that the number of employees is at its highest rate in years.

Perhaps they have realized that layoffs don’t work, or is this just a prelude to something else?

"Excellent. Please provide more info about the "why", beyond just "we hate Oracle", etc.. "

Mostly licensing costs and audits. Co is way too big to base a decision on "we hate Oracle"

On all my interviews Oracle not even mentioned as a big cloud player. People said they make good signs on boats.

Probably “all of the above”. Working at/with Oracle is traumatic it’s a cumulative trauma of a thousand blows.

I have to actively scan the 7,000 plus servers I manage, and their hosted containers for Oracle products, including Java. If found, they MUST be expunged. It is a Fortune 50 company. We are working to expel Oracle.

Excellent. Please provide more info about the "why", beyond just "we hate Oracle", etc.. For instance, is it the Java licensing? Is it moving to non Oracle DBs? What are the biz reasons your company is going that route?

We used to always get the "Oracle is hard to do business with" from customers, but at some point there's something that Oracle does that is the last straw, and then customers undertake major initiatives such as what you are describing.

HR has never heard of "Cloud Wars".

Marketing is where the budget to pay "Cloud Wars" to say nice things about Orahole comes from.

How many cloud services does Oracle offer? That's your answer. Oracle is a database software company offering cloud services, not a cloud company with a full line of services.

Gartner has had OCI as a niche player for at least the past 4 years.

Google has climbed into leader Quadrant. Alibaba has steadily surpassed OCI. OCI = completely stagnant niche player.

Enough said. It’s in the Gartner charts.

I interviewed with rackspace last week. On their public facing cloud material they don’t even mention Oracle in the clients they help. HR must really have pathetic lives….posting on the weekend. Guess they ran out of yay o.

They might be leading the back of the pack, in their little niche.

Otherwise the landscape hasn't changed much:

Larry and Safra disagree with you. Duh.
