Changing roles within EM

Is it smart to move roles within EM? I'm certain that my career will not get ahead if I remain part of my current team, but I'm not sure if I should try and change roles or simply leave the company altogether (which would most likely take me much longer than simply moving within the company.) I'm not on good terms with my current manager, so that complicates things further.

Only change groups if you will be ranked with your new group. If ranked with your previous group, you will be sacrificed (i.e. ranked NSI) to save the current group members. It would be a win-win for the supervisor. First, they wouldn’t lose any team members and second, they would not have to go through the BS PIP process.

Some people are lucky when they change role within the company as they get an interesting assignment....however you also see some people get a new role, and you ask yourself....what happened??

You would expend more time and much more energy trying to change role internally.

You’re better off leaving. Especially if you are under 45 years old. The younger you are the more you should be trying to leave.

My situation is very similar. I’ve come to the conclusion that leaving EM is the smartest option. Incompetence breeds incompetence, and the chances of landing in a different group in EM with a better manager is slim.

If you change role after November consider yourself gone.
