Given my age, I’m worried. The market is hot but when you are older and it is not easy to find an acceptable alternative. I have been trying for several months without success. Does anyone know how big the cuts will be, if they occur at all? I still kind of hope it won't happen.

No layoff in tech. Not going to happen.
Are you willing to move out of Portland? Going to a bigger market should open many more opportunities. Also are you willing to do consulting/contract work initially? Also would recommend to hire an expert to have your resume professionally written if you haven't already.
It took me 3 years, 1 really 5hitty job and an MBA to get a good job after being at Nike for 18 years. Even 10 exceptional reviews in a row could not protect me from "you have too many benefits". Nothing will protect you from, "sorry, you are to expensive".
Tech is 2700 people Org. ~500 are FTEs and rest are ETWs. Over 1000 ETWs are non ITO who will see their contract expiring this Oct. there is not a layoff planned as far as I know but letting those non ITO contracts expire is what I hear.
