Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

WFH Policy

Hello,

I’m considering a job @Truist but with the understanding my org will continue to be WFH (that each org could choose and this org is designated WFH ongoing). Is this accurate or is Truist, like other companies, reneging on keeping WFH? My wife worked at BB&T briefly and at that time there was little flexibility. No snark please, I’m really trying to understand the environment. Thx.

Any person that's no worried about losing their person should wake up! Especially if you are not on the executive team and even if you are. Secret layoffs are happening all the time outside of the announced retirements. Contractors are being let go as well.

I left Truist about 2 months ago and haven’t looked back. Unless your current boss literally locks you in a dungeon, you’d be best to stay away from Truist. WFH will be the least of your worries. If it were still BB&T it would be completely different but this merger sucked the life out of what was once a nice place to work.

My advice is to simply talk to a few current Truist employees “off the record” before you leave your current job. I think the more employees you talk to, the more a common theme will emerge.

My opinion is this. The two heritage banks had polar opposite cultures, which
predictably led to an environment of distrust and poor communication. Layered on top of this mess are the ongoing layoffs, which combined with the climate of distrust, has created a truly toxic, and quite frankly, miserable work environment. This lack of teamwork has impacted system integration and client service, and dealing with the increasing client dissatisfaction has added even additional stress to the workday.

I guess what I am trying to say is in my opinion any WFH “issues” will quickly become the least of your concerns at Truist.

it will be WFH until they need to cut expense, and suddenly you are going into the office 5 days a week.

We were promised WFH permanently. Then it was in office 1x ever 2 weeks. Then 1x a week. Now we are 2x a week. We will eventually be full time back in office. Dont believe anything they say.

Seriously, you're looking to join Truist, have you read the comments here? I would recommend you look elsewhere if you want any type of normal job experience.

This may differ a little by business, but the direction post-COVID is final. It’s almost 2/3s hybrid or telecommute, startlingly few people will be in the office every day. Even for those going in, Truist is much quicker to respond to the need to delay when conditions worsen.

Anything could change, but this company has growth strategies that include more forward thinking approaches than some of the bigger banks. People who were at one of the two heritage banks have a lot of feedback about what has changed for them, but those changes are infinitely better than the conditions at bigger banks. Truist will be growing while others will be shrinking. I left a much bigger bank to come here and I am not sorry, literally everything about it is better. Maybe not perfect, but a big improvement, and I am not worried about losing my work arrangement.
