A working parent… will I have to quit bc of Delta

Has anyone heard of accommodations WF or any company has to retain parent employment. The conversation of me taking a year off to raise our 1 year old has come up multiple times due to the Delta Variant… Our child currently is in daycare but with more and more stories of kids in ICUs I am now having conversations with my husband about quitting and staying at home!!! I feel I can’t be the only mom with multiple degrees and 6 figure salary having this conversation. I am at a cross roads.

I am the OP!! Let me clear a few things up, I have busted my a-s to get where I am so me making 6 figures with multiple degrees is not elitist. It’s hard work and dedication, it’s years of waiting tables/hotel jobs while I took night classes. It’s years of studying when I really wanted to party, it’s defending my thesis to a bunch of people that decided if I graduated or not. So I don’t feel bad about me mentioning that because me staying at home is me sacrificing all the years I sacrificed. I never planned or dreamed of being a stay at home mom. I have nothing against those that are, but it’s never been anything that I’ve ever wanted. I went to school and picked career before having kids just to grow my career. My husband did too, as we are in our late 30s and we just have 1 child. Yes I can afford daycare, and yes he has been in daycare all year but things have changed due to the Delta variant. Kids/babies are in hospitals and on ventilators which was not the case last year. Kids are accounting for 20% of the positivity rates and parents are having to see their kids hooked up to tubes and monitors all over this country, I do not care if it’s 5 or 100 it’s too many for me. Anyone who says oh I don’t have kids what about me? You have the option of getting vaccinated my child does not, as he is 1. My purpose of this message was to see if any programs exists to accommodate the moms/dads who/whom are going to have to sacrifice their careers dreams and aspirations bc you refuse to get vaccinated!!!!

Not high on style points, but the gist of the argument is one many people are going to face. We were so close and the delta variant came in and tossed the table.

If anyone actually cares about science anymore, here's one of the biggest studies on this subject currently available.

The multiple degrees...run for Congress. You can join the Squad and promote socialism! You sound like an entitled elitist and could likely get elected on eother coast. The only more unproductive and inefficient body besides this place, is Congress. 10% approval rating, do nothing Congress.

So people should be penalized for having kids now? If that's the way the world works, then none of us would be here. OP brings up a very valid question about protecting her child, every parent whether they express it or not is having the same thoughts. Just because you don't have kids and chose not to have kids doesn't mean you can't sympathize with the issue. Imagine if the child had medical conditions that make COVID more dangerous?

Quit! Not everyone has that luxury like you elitists with "multiple degrees and six fig income." Sign up for Sleepy Joe's socialist benefits, I bet money you voted for him.

Have ya looked at the mortality rate for kids under 5 from COVID? CDC data says it's no more dangerous than influenza. Every parent should make their own decisions on all health matters for their children, but ya might want to avoid scare-people-for-ratings stories on the news and go straight to reliable unbiased sources of data.

Why would you get special accomodations and not the rest of us? I chose not to have kids and don't want to be exposed to Delta myself let alone drag it home to my significant other. Just cuz you got multiple degrees and make 6 figures, does not make you special. We all will be buried 8 feet under someday in the same sized grave so you're not entitled to special accomodations.

The 20k a year teller single moms raising two kids sympathize.

But they cant afford daycare so do what they do, farm em out to your mom
