Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Why so much micromanagement?

The irony is that there seem to be more micromanaged employees who work hard, have a lot of experience and are dedicated to their work than those who do the bare minimum and sloppy work.

It became impossible for me to work in such conditions. I was thinking about leaving anyways because I’m more than underpaid for what I do but micromanagement has made that decision a lot easier to make.

My experience is just the opposite, my manager is so disengaged that we wonder what he is doing with his time. I'm sure there is a happy middle somewhere but the opposite of micromanagement is just as frustrating.

@jwn+ - HR toadies gettin' salty lately! I wonder why? Could it be because your recruiting efforts are failing so miserably?

As for the topic, let's put it this way: Micromanagement is the sure hallmark of an incompetent, weak management. But since this is Fiserv? It's not only expected, but graded.

Micromanagement is not efficient, it does nothing other than stress someone out. My advice is get out while the job market is hot. Bag yourself a 40% pay increase and unlimited wfh.

Hit the road. Let’s face it you don’t like being held accountable for a full days work and you certainly don’t like being held accountable for performance.
