Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Does Christy’s departure change anything?

Do you think there will be any significant changes after her departure?

Exactly, Christy was filling the quota for diversity and that is the same reason she got recruited to Intel. Haven’t you heard of the WoW program? Many promotions for incompetent ladder climbers happen for the same reason. On the other side, quite a few number of very strong female engineers were driven outside of the company with the 2018 VSP. Please spare me saying that this is a technology company. This is a company run by unauthentic folks running a theatrical show and handsomely paid for their marketing snake oil.

I think Christy is the first exec not involved in a scandal to leave Vz since Hans became CEO.

It does not change anything. Let us be rational about this

EVP paid up to $10mil
SVP paid up to $2mil
VP paid up to $1mil
Directors paid up to $600K

Eventually, every aspect of the company will be outsourced. If you are a director and above you milk it while it lasts. And if you are a director you are always looking outside

If you are a individual contributor making 100 to 250, depending on which part of the company the culture can be from one you can manage to dysfuctional to toxic

The biggest mistake people make is that they stay too long. People get comfortable. Nothing of value is achieved by being comfortable

Don't blame others. You know it when it is not working. Sometimes even the layoff is doing you a favor or else disrupt yourself. In my opinion go out there and hustle

The down fall of this company started with lowell mc Adam's and all his policies, not the union which makes a small % of verizon .be smart and blame the right person .

To those complaining about Christy, just wait until a lawyer is in charge of HR. It can always get worse. Always.

Not in the least similar to the prior HR leaders departure. HR will yet again will have all the HR groups struggle to show how important they are at the expense of doing their job. Seems to get worse every year and doubly worse when there are new leaders or reorgs.

It changes nothing. She sat in front of the computer at home for 18 months and cleared millions. Stupid Pulse surveys were useless and only made money for friends at Gallup.
None of the C Suite people amount to anything. They take in $7-20M each year and have no impact to results whatsoever. They can be replaced by anyone random or even a group of monkeys all I care. Since Vestman started, stock is flat. Since Dunn started, consumer business is flat. Did they make 100X of impact of a regular employee or 1/100X impact of an employee ? Tried of all their Marketing BS and pep talks.
Now I am OK a superstar like Michael Jordan making $20M a year. He deserved every penny because of his talent.

Technology in India?? They can't produce a quality product now when tasked. And these off shore or the ones here in the states. No sense of urgency or can't look outside the box. But what do I know. Verizon will be sold to Amazon by 2024

Yes. Intel will get stronger. Impact to VZ will be determined by who they bring in.

Is HR about to be outsourced?

Absolutely no. A totally overrated employee, her duties were all ethereal. Her departure could be replaced by a computer program.

There was an article in the Washington post about America’s workers are exhausted and burned out — and some employers are taking notice from late June. Many companies were giving extra time off to help with the stress etc. Verizon was mentioned in the article but nothing specific nor have we been given extra time off such as summer fridays. Maybe christy was pushing for some extra perks for employees and Hans said nope, not gonna happen. And that was enough to push her out.

It changes nothing. Executives come and go. We spent billions to be a technology company and then took writeoffs. Employees continue to pay the price while all the fat cats make millions. We imported europeans to tell us about carbon footprint and got indians to outsource our technology competencies.

How is it going so far?

Yup. Verizon is about to be sold off. Hard to find a buyer though with union labor dragging down the value.

Not for the wireless agents. they have been given a raw deal. The new Christy can’t change that.
