@pku - 2 friends and I used to do this as well. The was a female manager in Lubes R&D (initials KW) who was out on a “special assignment”. This gave her the opportunity to attend lots of high level, international meetings with marketers and strategy managers. To show off to everyone, she used to send daily summaries of these meetings to everyone in Lubes R&D. They were so full of buzzwords and typical management jargon, that you seriously couldn’t understand what she was talking about - the only thing you could do was play “buzzword bingo” ! I am so pleased to learn that someone else did this.
Favorite (made me want to scream !) buzzwords/phrases:
“High grade our portfolio”
“Winning proposition” (it never was)
“You need more visibility”
“You need to tell me what’s happening, even if nothing’s happening”
This one really got me angry. It was from an VP of Lubes R&D (initials TM) in reference to a presentation by his favorite pet:
“Sorry I can’t stay, but you need to listen to this guy says. I don’t know what he’s going to say, but it’s going to be great”.
