Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

We all just want out...

I had an interview VMware today. Doing the same role I do at Oracle. She asked why I wanted to leave. I just said I want a chance at a new culture, new connections, a new opportunity. When I said those words, I was both sad and happy. The regret I have for staying but also taking advice from people who were just, um, frauds; 100% frauds. I hope they read these posts some day. I just don’t get how people who are liars and frauds can look in the mirror every day knowing they’re useless and just stealing. I may sound bad but I wish I picked a better company to spend so long at. I actually wish I worked somewhere that is local to my city. I don’t know why but I wish I worked with more people who were just better people and thus better workers; not in the sense of harder but just not a bunch of sc-m or rats like there are in mgmt.

Everyone can find their way out. I did. I am much happier on the outside. Decent people to work with out here. That's an enormous benefit to leaving the company. Now I'm doing my own thing and feel great about it.

Coincidence that Mark Tu-d left IBM and it ended up being better than Oracle? Karma came and got him.

What a sad little life Tu-d had. Every company he went to he destroyed a little more than the last one, until finally he destroyed himself.

VMWare is a perfectly good choice, far better than Oracle.

Any place but Oracle is the place to be.

You are moving in the right direction.

A quick scan of the list shows: 209 - IBM 289 - Oracle

Oracle is below IBM. That's bad. REALLY bad.

If you never worked there I have no time for your googling. I have a friend there who works there and another former colleague left for there. Every place is gonna have something. I didn’t get an offer so I’m entertaining all jobs. I just know I don’t want to work under mgmt like the blobs that run my division. They’re useless bodies. It’s all good. My full time has been a part time job for about a decade cause all the stuff they throw at me is easy.

Plus it’s Friday. And tmo I will be with real people doing some fun things.

If you're going to go through all the effort to get a new job, why not find a company where there's an actual future, instead of just another stop-gap like Oracle.

VMWare is no longer relevant in the market, especially for cloud technologies. The place has been fraught with churn, and is not going anywhere. Here's just one of many articles that discuss the issues they're facing. Read it. Learn something. Find somewhere better.

You sound like a proper rat. Sitting there, watching, judging, stealing, unhappy with your life and being both trapped and sad. Maybe Google VMware to at least that they are voted a ton better than Oracle. You sound like mgmt. and for that, I’m done my day at 1125am today. I haven’t had work to do the last 2 weeks cause your orgs are such a disgusting mess. You’re sad.

A quick scan of the list shows:
15 - MicroSoft
21 - Netflix
22 - Google
53 - VMWare
66 - SAP
80 - Salesforce.com
140 - Dell
173 - Amazon
178 - SpaceX
182 - Tesla
209 - IBM
219 - Workday
289 - Oracle
291 - Samsung

VMWare? You must really like staying at the bottom of the barrel. Then again, the fact that you have stayed at Oracle this long isn't exactly a good look either.

It’s the Employment at Will situation that gave rise to places like Glassdoor, and this site.

Know what you are getting into. You already know what you are running away from.

Learn from other’s experience. Pass your knowledge and wisdom along.

You better believe that I looked at Glassdoor, the layoff, Reddit, indeed, anywhere that recorded first person stories of the places I was considering. Why wouldn’t you?

What a terrible response. As an employee you should expect certain standards from an employer and switching jobs is not always the easiest thing to do given personal life circumstances such as being the sole bread winner, and obviously there has to be a role elsewhere to move to. You must either have very low standards when it comes to what is expected from an employer, or you must be doing very well at oracle, but why would you be here if that’s the case. Either way your comment is not helpful and just shows you are part of the problem at oracle, because you have no awareness of what’s happening around you.

employment at will. people who crib about their employer and yet have no issues taking the paycheck have a special place.
