Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Pay Gag

Under federal law, keeping employees from discussing pay with coworkers is an unfair labor practice. Yet workers, advocates, and labor experts say such “pay gag” infractions are widespread, with awareness of the law at a minimum.

OP apparently doesn't read company policy. Lock the thread, this one's dead Jim.

if you poke around on teamworks on Pay & Jobs section there are several instances where it expressly gives guidance that managers cannot prohibit employees from discussing work assignments which includes compensation. Also you cannot retaliate against an employee for going do. I think it's part of a clause because WF is technically considered a government contractor. Its just not very widely publicized.

Ask HR. They will tell you you’re free to discuss your pay. Cultural norms keep most of us from doing so. Do you really want to know?

You can discuss pay here just most don’t know it. I know people who all managed to get raised after they discussed their pay; found out they were all underpaid and discussed with their managers. Of course these were all good performers. Don’t think it would work if you’re not good and they want to keep you
