Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Products no one know anything about internally?

We have products that even our support staff do not know how to use!

I would expect that is true in engineering also. People who knew products have left and suddenly there is code to support that no one knows anything about. In fact, even when I was working there a few years ago, that was already true. Must be significantly worse now.

“ Why in God’s name would someone ask for Oracle product support help on layoff sight?”

It is not the support, but the lack there of that is the concern. They can not attract, nor keep talent.

Can you answer a Discoverer question?

OMG I think I remember that product. Had to be at least a decade ago. Wasn't it some mapping SW that was bundled with our middleware/appserver? I remember it being difficult to support even back then.

I'm so, so, SO glad I don't work at Oracle anymore. Brings back nightmares.

When your ship is sinking it's because yoh don't have enough people to plug all of the holes. Oracle is a sinking ship.

Honestly, who really cares. Customers know the deal with Oracle. They are all working to get off oracle products (with the exception of certain saas apps). They will remove oracle db after oracle db over time, until oracle has very few customers left.

If oracle were an actual growth company then your question would be nominally interesting. But given the current state of the company, it's more of a "who gives a sh!t?"
