@1yws They meant resources as in people, given the context of employable skills statement. The gist is that we have the people, the training resources, the opportunity, but we're culturally drawn to things other than working towards marketable employment, such as software engineering.
@1dyv not sure how you meant this, but the statement we "have all the resources we'd ever need in the USA" is patently wrong.
If you're talking people and knowledge, what happens if some new revolutionary technology is discovered in another country, but because of white replacement fear we don't exchange knowledge and become slow to adopt it, falling behind the rest of the world? Look at how many businesses in America are owned or run by immigrants.
If you're talking resources as in anything we need or use to support people, that's the most indefensible statement ever. For batteries alone, the USA lacks production capacity for 14 of the required ingredients. Imagine life without batteries. No phones, no push-button/turn-key engine starts.
We most definitely do not have everything we need. Even if we did, we'd still be trading with the world because that's how the planet works.
What happened is the young folks saw their parents lose their jobs to India so they are avoiding tech like the plague to have an actual career that they can continue, like in the medical field. You can’t outsource medical (though you can doctor on Skype)
Don't hate the player, hate the game. We have all the resources we'd ever need in the USA, but folks are more interested in being TikTok stars and influencers than getting employable skills.

I have said this for years since Bush exploded the number of H1Bs issued. It was originally supposed to be for special cases until the lobbyists got it increased several fold for this scheme.
“partners in India”: the terminology around here is laughable. More WFC smoke and mirrors, attempting to put a favorable spin on the dirty business of offshoring American jobs.
Every American who initiates, perpetuates and supports offshoring American jobs deserves to be fired and never find work within the United States again. They are traitors to their own country.

They did NOTHING to support this statement but rather used it as an excuse to lay off a lot of good people.
As someone said above, now they realize those people were important and trying to hire them back. Good luck with that. I know what I would tell them. Nationwide and Chase tried that several times over the years as well and it went over like a lead balloon.
It's okay to be angry at Wells' outsourcing of jobs, but don't blame the folks in India, and don't think it's about race. Indians can't "take" jobs that aren't offered to them, and Wells isn't hiring in India due to race. It's all about the Benjamins.

i thought they laid off all employees with the QA job title already? They are trying to re-hire some of them back as non-exempt employees (but only as a lateral job change, so no increase in salary)

They've been pretty public about the plan for manual QA roles for a couple years now. Anyone in QA not pivoting to a modern role is insane to have been ignoring this for so long.
Yes, and did you catch was he said: "We are transitioning them to become software engineers." So if you can't morph into a software engineer soon, ugh oh...
