Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

ExxonMobil's lack of strategy costs the oil and gas industry

XOM's insistence that climate change isn't happening may have destroyed trust in the oil and gas industry and consequently calls to shut it down.
Darren recently discovered that we have done a lot of carbon capture and informed investors.
Anyone know why we didn't listen to our customers' concerns about climate change leading to a perception that we think we know better? It is now costing jobs and pay rises when we could have been paid to sort out the problem.

Ever existed before man-made climate change.

Yes, climate change is a thing, and geoscientists know that is has been a thing for more than 400 million years. Climate change catastrophism is slightly more recent, it started about 30 years ago, after the “consensus” has changed from global cooling to global warming (I’m old enough to remember the Ice Age scare from the ‘70s). Don’t worry, after all the propaganda in the last years, nobody even remembers that hurricanes, droughts, floods and forrest fires ever costed before “man-made climate change”.

@vmi Climate change is a thing. Full stop.

That said, demand for O&G looks robust for the foreseeable future. A lot of the talk around the “green economy” is little more than hype and clever slogans. It will take years, in some cases decades, to develop green energy technologies to the levels necessary to supplant fossil fuels.

This is one of the most absurd claims I’ve seen in an post. For your information, OP, there’s a large part of the American public opinion (no point to even mention its political affiliation) who loves to hate the oil industry for at least the last 20-30 years. For them, the oil industry is the Black Beast, no matter what, and the fact that for at least 10 years EM has bend the knee and kissed the ring of climate change makes no difference whatsoever.
If you want to take the measure of this anti-oil industry cult, just look at the Dozinger case, where a proven corrupt lawyer with anti-oil obsessions is forever the hero.

Rubbish!!!!! When the world discovers that climate change isn't real our share price will soar and we will surpass Apple to regain our rightful place as the world's largest company again. We were only overtaken by Apple 8 years ago.

BP has come back fantastically after Deepwater incident and has openly communicated their strategy to go after cleaner energy by directing 40% of their investments towards cleaner energy while high grading their oil and gas portfolio.

And the company that keeps saying WeAreExxonMobil? Still no long term strategy.
