Worst of both worlds.
The biggest disaster of a merger attempt I've ever seen in my life as a heritage "BBT teammate" for well over 13 years. Two completely polar opposite banks and cultures being forced to merge as equals. Sad to see this becoming a SunTrust takeover and even sadder to watch all of it unfold before my eyes.

yea, I worked at bbt years ago and the managers then, while out drinking on the company dime, would be comparing who has more after-hours worker messages coming in laughing about who had more employees working late.
I can only imagine how ugly that culture is now.
How about “ illusory superiority”. It’s Where someone overestimates their abilities, in relation to those of other persons.
Or the Peter Principle, With people being promoted above their level of competence.
Who knows: Truist might just be full of cognitive effects trying to navigate a merger. There may be a journal article in there somewhere :)

That’s because they were always the “talkers”, but never the doers. They got praise merely for speaking well and/or looking good. Oh, and for getting others to do the work.
Mgt is now suffering consequences of the Dunning-Kruger Effect (a condition when people catch lucky breaks, are in the right place at the right time, and then think they achieved everything on their own merit, when nothing could be further from the truth.)

MOE, you make people laugh. This has been a BBT removal and a STI renaissance. The new SunTruist has been an incredible display of arrogance and how not to merge two companies into one. Removal of people with knowledge and ability to make intelligent decisions in favor of people who will say or do anything that gains favor with the leaders who are ignorant at best, stupid at worst. If you’re lucky you’ve been removed from this circus or you left on your own. Never seen so many people with the smartest kid in the room syndrome with no idea what the he-l they are doing.
At least you didn’t make some people relocate their families shortly before you pulled the rug out from under them.

The two of us are on track to collect our huge bonuses, provided you all put your backs into it, continue to sacrifice your nights, weekends, and holidays, and keep on neglecting your families! Come in, team, we (meaning you) just need to get us over a few more hurdles, and we'll be there! Well, the two us will be there! Who knows where you'll be...and to be honest, we don't care! Suckers!
