Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Working all of Labor Day Weekend

So many of us in Enterprise Technology, along with our business partners, have to work all weekend, including Monday, so that Execs can get their bonuses. There is no mention of time off to compensate. It will be the same way Columbus Day weekend.

Let me guess - Case and Meyer showed up with Donuts, spent 10 mins and then left back to their country club barbecues. Meyer couldn’t code a thing if his life depended on it but is somehow the visionary. Hahahaha. All of you that stay deserved what you get. it’s been common knowledge and on this board for a while that Tech leadership are morally corrupt and don’t care about anyone other than themselves.

Easy fix. Don’t go in. Or simply don’t work. Hang out, read your phone, whatever..
this is on you and you alone if you agree to be treated so poorly

Many 'workers' are in manager-pleasing mode thinking they are going to be protected post-merger. They are in a for a rude surprise (not all but a significant number of them) because their time of exit has already been determined and performance notices and warning will appear just at the right time. It is ONLY the engineers who know that they are NOT REPLACEABLE, all others are. To show 1.6 billion dollars profit every year (from synergies as promised to the world), everybody knows it isn't going to come from synergies but from batched layoffs of employees (54K at current count, do they need more than 30K?). Contractors (18K) can be downsized anytime. They will repopulate analysts, support staff, managers as they need once the pressure of merger and 1.6 billion optics is out. BEST COURSE WOULD BE- 1)to start looking for jobs 2)Save evidences of good work and testimonials from teammates 3)Prefer to be terminated than resign 4) Be ready for a cass-action lawsuit as and when it emerges (will be some time next year after a chunk get laid off). Those that get laid off through lies and deceit will have a case to bring to them.

To paraphrase The Joker: "What do you get when you cross a corporate culture that rewards mental illness with another corporate culture that abandons employees and treats them like trash? You get what you f**kin' deserve!"

Truist is Stockholm syndrome defined. Giving up vacations, weekends, and Holidays so the people who treat us with such disdain can be successful. Wow.

"If I could just be good, they'll stop hitting me..."

BINGO!

Before I escaped a yr ago I would always describe managers as ‘abusive.’

Figuratively speaking, they dangle a carrot with one hand and slap with the other.

You all deserve better

Being terminated is the best thing that could happen to you.

Boo hoo. I have no sympathy, and you know why? Because you spineless whiners won't stand together and assert yourselves and say "no". I guarantee that all the people on here complaining about having to work the holiday weekends just smiled and said, "Sure, no problem, happy to help!" when their managers told them they had to work. So grow a pair, or suck it up, buttercup!
