Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Few people are still planning on staying with US Bank until retirement

Be honest, how many of those who visit this forum regularly plan to still be here a year or a maximum of two from now? I'll admit right now that I don't. Too many changes, too many shortcuts taken that end up being detrimental to employees, too much incompetence at the top... US Bank will be happy if anybody good is still here by the time everybody is looking to leave does.

This is the market right now. Staying in one place for any length of time means taking pay cuts. Merit raises across the country, across industries, are generally at the rate of inflation. That means any employee performing at or above expectations is breaking even year to year. A promotion is generally in the 5-10% raise, and those are few and far between. An internal job move is limited to similar increases, which is why many companies prefer to hire from within. Conversely, an employee seeking employment elsewhere has the ability to seek larger raises and control the timing of job hunts. You can say that US Bank is "fortunate" to have to any long-term employees left, but the reality is the company doesn't expect to have many.

I feel for the dedicated, long-term employees with only a few years left. Most have spent their entire working lives at USB. This may have once been a destination employer but no more. Each day, these dedicated people think, how many more days until this all ends. When can I get the heck out of this $hit show. Hating each day that they have left. Hoping that their package arrives soon.

Been with the company for 16 years now. This will be my last. The branches are all understaffed and they move people around from other branches constantly for covereage. That doesn't seem to matter to them even with a pandemic. They ask me...always say no. You can nudge these customers all you want to go digital but they have way too big of a "cash my check" customer base to get these clients to that platform. Richard Davis ki---d that progress when it was needed. US Bank has always been behind the times with digital. Done working for a bank.
